American Straight Virginias & VaPers:Suggestions Please.

Personally, the big omission so far in this thread is GLP Triple Play. An amazing va/per with the depth and strength of some kentucky.

The Grand Cornell & Diehl Burley Trilogy.

I always thought that OJK, HB and Pegasus were the 'Big Burley 3'. I'm actually looking to stock up on a couple of these but just can't decide. So many slight variations.

    The New Generation

I'm hearing a lot of "Kids these days don't know half the things I knew when I was their age, they just aren't interested", when in fact it would be just as valid for a younger person to say "Older people today don't know half the things that my generation have to know, they just don't see them...

To all of you smokers with kids.

In the UK it's illegal to smoke in a car with anyone under the age of 18. It's fair enough imo. I wouldn't want to trap someone around a heap of second hand smoke regardless of their age.

First time using softy rubber bites

I only have on a few and use them on pipes that I'm smoking through winter. When it's really cold I like to clench for the whole smoke so that I can keep my hand in my pockets! I'm with Drennan on his suggestion to cut them down. I make mine just narrow enough that I can clench with my teeth...

    Mail Call!!!

Very nice looking pipes and amazing generosity! There are many pipe producers/carvers in the states that I love the look of, (Dagner, Moonshine, Briarlab, etc), but the shipping and the current exchange rate and up making it quite an expensive proposition. Hope you have many fine smokes in those.

Must Try US Blends For The UK Buyer

The selection is huge, that's a really tough question. All I can do is list some of the best blends that I've tried from across the pond. McClelland Beacon Extra - VaPer McClelland 5100 Red Cake - Va (bulk) McClelland Red and Black - Va McClelland Tudor Castle - Va/Oriental (Never see this...

    SW Rogue One

I went to see it at the weekend, on the spur of the moment. Despite being a bit of a geek, I knew nothing about this film was wasn't particularly bothered about seeing it. Well I'm really glad that I did. I enjoyed it much more than Force Awakens, I found the cast/characters to be much less...

Thanks for the information guys, much appreciated!

Savinelli 6mm Filter Pipe Without The Filter

Hi, So I'm really tempted by one of the Savinelli 'New-Art' line, they are nice looking pipes. They are all 6mm though and I have only ever bought filterless pipes. My question is then, do I need to use a filter with these pipes or does it come with some sort of adapter? Does anyone here just...

12 Days of Christmas at Cup O Joes!

Just spent the most I've ever spent on a pipe! I noticed this Chacom 2011 POY and had to grab it as my daughter was born in 2011.

The Definitive A Christmas Carol Film?

Over the next few weeks the version starring Patrick Stewart and the animation featuring Jim Carey will be in regular rotation at home. Those 2 are by far and away my favorite adaptions, they really capture the atmosphere of the novel in my opinion.

Popped a Tin Of Christmas Cheer 2016

It's always interesting listening to what people like ans dislike. I think I got into tobaccos the other way around form most. I have liked VAs and VaPers from day 1 pretty much, it has taken me a while to see the merit in English blends though.

    McClelland Christmas Cheer Review

Great review (as long as I gloss over the bit about putting ice in PX Cask!). I'm just not sure whether to try and stock up on 2016, 2017 or both equally.

    Finally, A Blakemar

The UK Pipe and Tobacco Club use Mike for their annual club pipe and every one I've had has been fantastic. For the care and attention that goes into them, I'm not sure there's better bang for buck.

Ebay seller from Ukraine, anyone have experience?

I have a Brog Pear Amigo and, even with fairly thick walls, it burns hot enough to discolor the finish. As a nice piece of carving, then great, but I wouldn't buy another pear wood pipe if my plan was to smoke it with any regularity.

    Is this pipe worth it?

I'm very far from being an expert on these things, but I recall reading about the Legend line earlier in the year and I believe that production of the line finished before they started production in Italy. That means you'd be getting a danish made pipe in great condition with what looks like a...

Which Bourbon For A Brit Newbie?

A fellow UK whisky drinker here. I need to be in the mood for sweeter notes of bourbon, but sometimes it really hits the spot. I also enjoy having it with ice, whereas I only ever drink malts neat or with (literally) a drop of water. I'd say that Makers Mark, Knob Creek and Woodford's Reserve...

    Obsessive Pipe Dedication Syndrome

I have OCD tendencies, so I feel your pain! I've not started down the route of dedicating pipes and will do my best to avoid it altogether. I fear that it would turn what's mean to be a relaxing pastime into a rather frustrating experience.

Great looking pipes, lovely grain for the price. I'm always on the look out for something affordable to help build my collection, I'll keep checking back!
