Looking to cut costs on pipe tobacco

I'll chime in for Stokkebye's Luxury Navy Flake also. I've been buying a pound and a half box every month. I smoke less than that, so I get to put some away as the inflation hedge. I've been getting the 1.5 pound box from the site sponsors and it's been between 40 and 45 dollars each time...

Stupid idea of the day: crowdfund a forum upgrade

Voting is a good thing. This ain't a democracy though, it's an owned forum. If you really want this, Kevin would be the person to talk to. E-mail him, make a proposal, and he accepts it, or not. Easy peasy whichever way he decides. What's a tapatalk? Will it cause tongue bite or make my pipe...

Do you Cellar or just Smoke?

Both. Not much to say after Cosmic, 'cause ...yeah. It also reminds me I said in another thread recently I was gonna take some pictures so I'd better stop being lazy.

How important is the tobacco quality?

Agreed, totally nowhere to go but up from "Super Value" tobacco. I also really like Peter Stokkebye blends and think they're a great start. And especially, what Newbroom said because if I remember right, tobaccos like "Super Value" aren't really pipe tobaccos, they're RYO cigarette tobaccos...

    Cellaring in Earnest

Thank you, it's a phrase and concept I learned reading here. It might have been Peck who steered me towards a good decision, but really it could have been any of the members.

    Cellaring in Earnest

You can do this! I made the same commitment to budget for purchasing twice as much as I smoke in each month's staple purchase of LNF. That was between two and three years ago, and I have just filled and put back my third full case of pint jars, plus some various half pints of the stuff. A rough...

    End of Smoking?

Actually I've maintained a 3.94 GPA in college for three years, and I smoke pot quite heavily. Got a B in algebra two years ago. Bummer. Vilify me, don't believe me, or ignore me. Those are all viable options and they're all good. Stoned = stupid is another myth like in that other thread.

    Meerschaum Market

I don't know about any other questions than the block one, but I've been looking at the Meerschaum Market too and I think I'm going to buy a gift for a lady friend from them soon.

What Do Pipe Smokers Do For A Living?

I loved all the Volkswagen buggys I've owned. What I'm able to do today is going to sound very cliche, but I've worked my ass off and am finally feeling some returns. I'm majoring in Philosophy at OSU in Oregon (so many beavers!), minoring in caffeine and nicotine because I will get this done...

***What Are You Smoking *** (March 2015)

My first Escudo purchase arrived yesterday. Fantastic stuff! So my first smoke today is Escudo in a Country Gentleman.

    Sound Off, Lurkers!

Then again, it might be some of those other threads that make me not want to.

    Sound Off, Lurkers!

...I double post so maybe someday I'll break 200. I dunno, like others before me have said, when I have something relevant (or irreverent) I'll post. I could put up a photo of my cobs, but nothing really special there. I know I'd much rather see more of Peck's pipes that are unsmoked and...

***What Are You Smoking *** (Feb. 2015)

4 Noggins Alamosa, in a Dr. Grabow. Mmmm good Virginia and Perique that's both plummy and peppery.

    Amish Secret

I always understood it's because the mustache is associated with the military (to the Amish), so kinda like gambit said.

    I don't understand rusticated pipes

Wow Peck, just effin' wow. In the stem of the Roush I see ocean waves and night time sky (no fairy farts though). Thank you for showing us, and please don't ever stop.

Last Day with my Best Friend

Sorry to hear this but thanks for sharing Cobguy, it reminds me of my lunkheads (No! that's just something in my eye). I'm such a sap that when I got divorced 15 years ago I paid dog support every month until this day came a few years later. I hope your day is better tomorrow.

    Review: Luxury Bulls Eye Flake

Hi everyone, hi texmex, I really like this one too, and I agree on the aging some for a little while. Even if it's a few months, it mellows somehow and "rounds" the edges of the flavors. I also noticed what you wrote about the "weight" of the smoke and I think I know what you mean. Give the...

    Making A Pipe Rack

That is a beautiful pipe rack. I still do the cube cut too, and to this day I carry a magnifying glass in my pocket because of Mike's cool-ass post about using it as a windproof pipe lighter. Thanks for sharing Mike! http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/a-one-pipe-question
