    GBD "Beau Nash" Rhodesian Restoration

After smoking the pipe for a few weeks, I was not pleased about how the bowl top looked. Putting it back in my cabinet with other GBD Rhodesians, I realized it was missing the beveled bowl top like my 9438's and 9242's featured. The bowl top was in such bad shape as received, I'm not certain...

    Microfiber Lighter Pouch Source?

We don't allow WTB threads in the Pipes/Accessories section, so moved to Pipe Accessories. Good luck on the search!

Reviving an old Pete 307 style

After the soak, if you can scrunch up a paper towel down into the stump with a drill bit (I use the reamer bit on my Senor Reamer), than twist it around, do this several times till the paper towel comes out unstained. Try not to get the paper towel stuck in there!

Reviving an old Pete 307 style

Alcohol should soften it up a lot.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

I was going to take a swing at this one, but we were at my granddaughters soccer game and I forgot. I likely wouldn't have gone this high, for a twin-bore mouthpiece. https://www.ebay.com/itm/205708507693

    Unique Pipes

Normally, I wouldn't post active ebay auctions but I'm pretty sure the membership will take a collective pass on this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/197690247457

    Unsmoked Family-era Sasieni Acquisition

Missed this yesterday, heck of a find and price. And just look at those blue dots! There is no prettier stem logo than a Four Dot. And to me, super comfortable to smoke, just the right level of click-i-ness and button size.

    Show Off Your Charatans Here!

Dennis Congas, "Mr. Charatan" and past president of the Charatan Collectors club used to be a member here. You could try contacting the club. They used to meet before every CORPS pipe show, which coincidentally is this weekend. I'm not certain if the Society is still active...

    Cleaning a Rusticated Rim?

Darkening is tough. Alcohol scrub to remove the stain then a restain is likely the only way. Build-up, that's different, I remove with a worn piece of scotchbrite/water. BriarBlues used to put bowls down into a saucer with distilled water and let it sit for a few hours, but again, that was...

Do you keep a journal of your work on pipes?

A couple of years ago, when Ebay started sending 1099's, I had to share my spreadsheet with my wife for our income taxes. That year, I sold a lot of pipes and it bumped our tax rate, not enough to cover what I sold! She had to incorporate me. And she was surprised that the bought/sold total...

    Show Off Your Charatans Here!

I'm not a silver expert, that's for sure. Pipes with silver sold in the UK did require a hallmark. If a pipe were banded after a shop/dealer acquired it, I doubt a hallmark would be required. Unless you have the pipe in hand, there's no way to determine if it was an adornment or a repair. At...

Do you keep a journal of your work on pipes?

I keep a spreadsheet of all Pipes purchased or sold. If they have collector significance, they get a Reborn Pipes blog entry (as defined by me!l. My sheet starts in 2011, and is just under 500 entries. I have 60-couple in my collection.
