Why Do New Pipes Smoke Hot?
Ok, I may be nuts (probably). On one hand it doesnt matter but Im curious: Every new pipe I get smokes hot the first round and gets cooler as it breaks in...even the second smoke is noticably cooler when it comes to the touch on the outside of the pipe. I know how to manage it but Im curious... -

Need Some Advice on DIY Blending
In the long run its usually ideal for the flavors to settle together. That said, you dont have to wait. One bowl experiments work just fine and no need to waste mixing too much at once. Tight Stem on Estate Barling
Once it is clean the pencil/graphite solution works well for me. After that if all else fails I pull out the 400 grit sandpaper and move very slowly to make it fit.- Sigmund

Ive tried skipping a day and that doesnt do it. I may have irritated the problem from smoking too much and also having beer. I typically drink tea or apple juice when smoking. Apple juice goes nice with virginias. I think I will crack open some apple juice and sip it. I guess a week off...- Sigmund

I’m off tobacco for a week. Somehow I got smokers palate. The roof of my mouth is inflamed and irritated but no sores. I guess its time to heal. Sour Pipe
If you really want to nuke a pipe use coffee with alcohol. In the chamber, in the shank. Dry it in the sun and cook that crap out. I think its also worth spending a couple bucks for bottle brushes that will fit in the shank for a deep cleaning.- Sigmund
