Loading Hours Or The Day Before

I’ve never intentionally done this. I do open up tins and let them ‘decant’ for at least a week or so before lighting up, but I suppose that’s a different thing altogether. My days are somewhat unpredictable with 2 kids aged 5 and under so knowing how many pipes I’ll smoke the next day is an...

    Things People Don't Post About

This is why I never leave the house without my measuring tape. You never know who’s gonna challenge you to a good old-fashioned dick measuring duel.

Well done choosing an awesome pipe. Thanks in regards to the Tekin. I just got lucky with the meerschaum and it’s been smoked quite a bit, at least by my standards. When I first got that Tekin it weighed around 45g and it now weighs closer to 60 with all of the tar and things it has absorbed...

Dang! That is a hell if a lot of color for only 22 bowls. Amy idea how much this pipe weighs? Lovely piece.

What Was Peterson’s Bowl Coating Circa 2020

Here’s the body of an email I sent to smokingpipes after purchasing a Peterson pipe in 2020: “Hope you had a jolly holiday season and a pleasant new year. I recently purchased my first Peterson pipe (Aran 15) from you and unfortunately (through no fault of your own) had astoundingly unenjoyable...

    Affordable Meerschaum

It depends on the day and the blend. I generally prefer to just pack a fresh bowl if it’s been sitting in the bowl for a full day, but within the same day I’ll usually fire it back up. Some blends lend themselves better to being set aside than others.

Dad Died Last Weekend And I Inherited His Pipes etc.

I am wishing you and your family peace during these hard times. May the memory of your father live on every time you spark up one of his most treasured briars.

I’m right there with you. It’s one of my absolute favorite pipe shapes. It’s between the 626 bent apple or the 207 straight apple from Savinelli.

Why Did you Start Smoking a Pipe, and Why Do You Still?

When my first kid was born, I wanted to switch from cigarettes to a ‘safer’ form of tobacco use. I did some research and It was either cigars or pipes, and cigars were much more expensive. My wife got me my first pipe, a Missouri Meerschaum emerald, in 2020 for Father’s Day and I haven’t really...

What Is The Origin Of The James Upshall Name?

I recently bought a Tilshead (Upshall Second) from @ssjones so I actually just read about the origin of the name. I dug a bit into the Ken Barnes files that you posted as well. They took forever to open on my country-ass satellite internet. :) Unfortunately, someone already beat me to the...
