    Pipe Collection Succession Planning

I would imagine the valuable pipes like the 'Ripper' pipe and a few others would either be sold or donated. Everything else would probably be sold off, I am afraid I do not believe there are enough 'cutty' pipe devotees out there to soak up my collection but then you never know until you go!

    Pay it forward giveaway

I am a great believer in anonymous gifting without any form of acknowledgement but implied in the bargain is that given the opportunity the recipient will play it forward one day! I have always liked this place since unlike other sites on the net this one seems to be well policed.

    Tobacco Blend Disaster

I have never experienced that issue since everything I smoke results in people asking me if I have taken up Pyroflatulence as a hobby.

    17th Century Dutch Pipes

I think the mouth tips might have been glazed with a white salt glaze. Nice pipes and unusual survivors from an age when a heavy smoker would easily go through a handful or more clay pipes every week!

Edward G Robinson .. What Do I Do Now?

I am afraid the little 'wagging finger' practitioners, perpetual school teachers and those super enlightened loons that gifted the world prohibition back in 1919 have run the tobacco trade out of the business. With all the talk about health I noticed an article little remarked upon about the...

    Whopper Still Sucks.

I remember going to Roy Rogers off Charing Cross Road in London for a Trigger burger circa 1980. I tried one of BK meatless burgers when they first came out and thought they tasted like someone had grilled a note book and stuck it in between 2 slices of bread. The only fast food I like in the...

    My Return

I feel for you. I took out a horse, 200 feet of pavement (side walk translated into American) a front garden wall and porch on my Brough Superior motorcycle back in 1987. They say your whole life flashes past you, if it did I got bored watching it after a few seconds! Glad to hear you survived...

    151st Kentucky Derby

@Choatecav: You are most welcome. I am not a huge collector of previously owned pipes by the great and the good but I am glad this one gave you a smile. Until you posted I had completely forgotten I owned the thing and that I had it in a drawer in my office somewhere with its accompanying letter!

    151st Kentucky Derby

@Choatecav: As requested here is the pipe and case along with the letter that accompanied the pipe. It would appear that the pipe belonged to the grandfather of the chap who won the 1951 Kentucky Derby. As you can see I have not even smoked the thing and it was in a drawer with the note from...

    151st Kentucky Derby

If anyone is interested I'll dig out the pipe and the letter from I think the grandson who sold me the pipe many years ago. It is a very plain and lightly smoked meerschaum 'cutty' pipe in a case.

I have a meerschaum pipe that belonged to a jockey who won the Kentucky Derby!

Any Chance That STG Will Bring Clan to the States?

@paulfg : That is so true. If tongue bite was a marketing 'thing' then Clan would have the entire market cornered!

Refurbished an Antique Meer to Smoke

The only thing I know about amber beyond all the usual postings is that when you drill out old amber pieces from a pipe you get the smell of eucalyptus for some reason!
