    Tobacco Recommendations?

I added a laugh reply thanks to that last bit, but this is actually a lovely idea; it could be even better if the more experienced TR reviewers were to include some "similar to" suggestions in their reviews, since if I learn that a particular reviewer's palate is similar to mine, their...

    The STG Vinegar Curse Continues

IIRC, there's a preparation of vinegar and water sold in a special applicator that wimminfolk employ in some fashion, though I've never bothered (nor wanted) to learn too much more about it. Something about "freshness."

    Grape

Time for my regular comment that C&D's Captain Bob's Blend is a regularly available blend with a shockingly delicious grape Kool-Aid jar note and a flavor that surprises: you will taste an actual honest-to-goodness English aromatic with an intriguing fruit note, and it's actually pretty good...

Would You Rather - Pipe/Tobacco Edition

I’d definitely go with the one pipe/many blends option. For my one pipe, I have fallen in love with the shape, look, and smoking performance of my Peterson Sherlock Holmes Milverton, so that’s what I’d go with. If it had to be just one blend, I’d go with Balkan Sasieni, my first “transcendent...

    Irish Flake new pipe smoker

For a quick and inexpensive smoke that features fantastic dark fired notes but none of the sweetness of Irish Flake, you might try Daughters & Ryan Ryback. The shag cut makes it burn pretty fast, but that's where the charm is - you can get in a satisfying smoke during a 15-min break, and go back...

Luxury Bullseye Flake, 5 yrs old

If you ever think about unloading it rather than tossing it in the trash, I'm interested in acquiring some of the aged stuff!

    Tobacco Recommendations?

I might add C&D Pegasus, which is basically Morley's Best with unsweetened black Cavendish standing in for the latakia. And if you're open to a home blend, I have really enjoyed "Miller's Mulch," a custom blend created for a UW Madison professor by the folks at the now-defunct Tobacco Bar in...

    Tobacco Recommendations?

You and I may be smoking brothers, as the blends you like and smoke regularly are also among my favorites! I would recommend trying Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Dark (or Dark Birds Eye or Kendal Kentucky, they are supposed to be all the same blend). It will be reminiscent of D&R Ryback, with the...

    Seeking Chocolate Burley Recommendations

I certainly get slightly more than a hint of cocoa in MB Golden Extra, and my first taste of it led me to buy a whole pound for the cellar. I think WCC's Deluxe Crumb Cut is more cocoa/chocolate forward, but MB GE is certainly worth smoking if you come across it. As to cocoa in MB GE, even if...

What Am I Missing With Brothers In Arms?

C&D blends absolutely get better with even a little time in the tin; especially with brand-new releases, opening and smoking them right away is a crapshoot. That’s why I don’t get folks literally throwing away a newly-opened tin of a brand-spanking-new release: you haven’t even given the...

    Seeking Chocolate Burley Recommendations

It is not. Someone earlier used the phrase “aromatized burley” and that’s an accurate way to describe it in my opinion.

    Seeking Chocolate Burley Recommendations

I only tried the Sutliff J4 well after it was pretty much gone, but it's a banger of a chocolate-forward burley. For a cocoa-tinged blend that's easily available and delicious beyond all belief, I can't recommend highly enough WCC's Deluxe Crumb Cut.

Corona Old Boy - Are They Worth It?

I am a cheap bastard, and snagged a gold-plated knock-off from TEMU for less than $4 shipped to my door. They said it would take 8-12 weeks to get to me, but it arrived 15 days later and has lasted for almost a year of daily use without issue. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

    2024 Cowboy Coffee.

Latakia does age well, it simply mellows and integrates with the other leaf in the blend, in my experience. I have some Dunhill Nightcap from 2015/2016 that is fantastic, if much less sharp than a new tin. And if you can get some aged Haddo’s Delight (from 2012 or older, for example), you’ll see...
