Ok, Alright Already! I Finally Got a Pipe by Lee.

I've read a lot about these pipes here on the forums, but I've never even seen one. So after years reading about them I decided to find one for myself. I found a nice 3 star (5 points) that was very inexpensive and looked like it had never been smoked. I'm sure it has, but it's so clean it will...

Any Love For The Boer Shape? Show Them Here!

Ok, the word "boer" is part of my last name so you'd think I would have been aware of this pipe shape name, but no, I've never heard of that shape referred to as a Boer shape. And the magazine article is from the year I was born too! Egads, I suppose I should get one now. I don't hate it, but...

    R.I.P. General Zod

Sorry to hear this. I really liked him in "The Limey", a Jason Statham type of role. He will be missed.

What Are You Listening To? - August, 2025

I like the Attacca string quartet, and I like their interpretation of these pieces by Haydn, sometimes spelled Hayden.

    What Is Your Favorite Snack

Chili crisp! On just about anything, or even just by itself. It will probably be the death of me.

    This Makes ALot Of Sense

I think you need to include bourbon bottles too. You want to cover all the bases so even us non beer drinkers can see it and spring into action on your behalf. 😝

What Are You Listening To? - August, 2025

I really dig this song, and it brings to mind a version of this song by Angelina Jordan. She won Norways got talent at 7 years old singing a Billie Holiday song. Here she is at 9 years old singing this song. Pretty amazing!

Back with some more Kovacs. The video is rather odd for this as it seems to be for something else. Matthew and Scarlett look to be in a movie scene, but I think it was for a Dolce & Gabbana perfume ad. Still kind of cool with the music.

My Civic Duty to Smoke a Civic Pipe?

Thanks for this. I like how on these threads sometimes information keeps coming out of the woodwork! So it looks like maybe my pipe is from the mid 1950s up to 1970? And I'm not sure how British pricing at that time relates to US prices.

My Civic Duty to Smoke a Civic Pipe?

Thanks for the info. I've seen some of this before but I'm still intrigued by the history of some of these lesser known British pipes. This pipe smokes great. It's a small pipe but has a nice open draw and is easy to smoke.

My Civic Duty to Smoke a Civic Pipe?

Wow, those are really nice pipes! I'm sure the silver mount pipes like that pre-date mine by quite a bit. I figure my pipe is probably from the 60s or 70s.

My Civic Duty to Smoke a Civic Pipe?

Here's a British pipe you don't see too often. Part of the history of British pipes is the Civic brand. Not a lot of info about these pipes but started up as part of the Imperial Tobacco Co. and ended up part of the large parent company of Cadogan along with other pipes made in England. Nice...

    Baking Bread.

My late wife did most of the baking back when. Now I mostly make beer bread, sometimes called 1,2,3 bread as it has only 3 ingredients: one 12 oz. can of beer, two tablespoons sugar, and three cups of self rising flour. Super simple, I just use the toaster oven, and there's a lot of...

Family Insights Into William Faulkner - Pipe-Smoker

I read that book by John Faulkner years ago. I picked it up in a bookstore downtown Oxford, MS. I live only about an hours drive from Faulkner's home town of Oxford and have visited his home "Rowen Oak" many times over the years which is a fun and interesting place to visit. Johns book about his...

What Are You Listening to? - July, 2025

Just discovered these guys a few days ago, really quite different. Meute, a German techno marching band? Call them what you want, they're pretty cool and quite jazzy!
