I apologize Jesse For Being Remiss

I can't believe I overlooked @sablebrush52 act of generosity. About six weeks or so ago, I mentioned on a thread discussing it, how I missed out on the release of WCC Glass Slipper. A few days later, PM from Jesse telling me to shoot him my Addy, he'd send me a 4 Oz bag he had that was extra. 4...

Meet Eric ( @Elric )and his Son at one of our Florida Pipe Smoke meets last winter. Eric was visiting his Son, decided to meet us and bright his Son along (who was a very nice going man). While there, we somehow got into the subject of McClelland and how much I like their Virginias. Eric said...

Broke My 8 month PAD Discipline

Saw this Rubio on Jose's Facebook page, was surprised it was still available. I couldn't resist. A departure from his normal great blasts, he told me this was the best Birdseye briar he ever carved.

Mac Baren - Please Bring Back HH Mature Virginia

I bought one tin from another member around a month ago. First bowl tasted rather underwhelming. I decided to smoke this blend first thing each day with coffee. Good decision. A fresh pallet allows the milder and more subtle nuances to shine. Not as sweet as many Virginia blends, I also get some...

    MRSR Not Flake

This is poorly sliced crumble cake. Not Flake. SPC apparently decided to slice up the standard cake plug, mark it up, reliable it and call it flake. I smoke mostly flake, this is not close to any flake I ever had.

Mississippi River Special Reserve Not Really Flake

What a sham. Doers that look like flake to you? It looks, feels and tastes like they took the normal cakes, tried to slice them with a dull knife and crammed the tobacco in a tin. Label it as a special release, jack up the price and there you have it. This isn't flake folks.

Mississippi River Special Reserve Not Really Flake

I bought 6 tins that I received today. Popped one to smoke a bowl just in case I found it to be great and wanted to order more. I was shocked when I saw what they're attempting to pass off as flake. At the very best one might consider it broken flake but what it really looks like is the regular...

    Grandpa For The Third Time

After two beautiful Granddaughters, Asher Michael Edeburn was delivered by my Daughter just a bit ago. 8 lbs 1 oz, everyone is healthy. Praise the Lord! I'm so happy for my Daughter who is such a great Mother and I'm a bit happy for myself. My Son in Law also extends his family name, he's a...

    New Cermak

There's a small group of pipe smokers at Cigar Family, we have been having a POTY made for four years running now. Last year we had one made by Jack Howell which was superb. This year's edition was carved by Martin Cermak. We're quite pleased, his artistic ability and workmanship are...

    My Tobacco Smoking Rotation Strategy

I smoke 5 to 7 bowls most every day. I have a reasonably well defined strategy for what I'm going to smoke and more important, the order I smoke in. I started this when I used to smoke the same amount of cigars each day. I smoke in order of strength, milder to stronger. My first bowl of the day...

    My New Lighter

Was standing in checkout and saw these in the spontaneous purchase area. Needed something to light the charcoal on the grill (old one fizzled out) and grabbed one. I thought it might be a really good pipe lighter. And it is! I'm not throwing away my Pipemasters or Kiribis but I may buy a couple...

Building Your Cellar - Things To Consider

Building your Cellar is one of the most discussed topics here. At five bowls per day and at age 64, I have enough stocked to last me to age 107. I feel pretty comfortable at this point. Here are some things to consider as you build your own Cellar. I almost wish I had 100 pounds each of Vauen...

    Recent Memorable Smokes

I enjoy just about every bowl I smoke. Occasionally though, there's one that stands out for whatever reason; timing, occasion, food/drink, company, etc.. I also think there are simply times when your palate is more friendly towards tobacco. Yesterday morning I smoked a bowl of HH Pure Virginia...

    Other Considerations For Cellaring

We bought a house in Florida and live there half the time now. So we’re selling our larger house in Indiana to take advantage of the market. Which means the cellar has to move. i spent about 8 hours prepping the mason jar cellar. Those totes are also the heaviest. I spent zero hours prepping...

    Sharrow Philtpads

Simon/Condorlover was nice enough to give me a 2 of these a couple of weeks ago when we meet in Tampa. I believe they are made of Meerschaum but not sure. If you put them in a bottom of a bowl of a Meer, they will accelerate the coloring process of the shank. As a side benefit, they seem to...

    Granddaughter Goofing Off

My oldest goofing off with me in the man cave. She figured out how to mount my iphone on a tripod and use the timer to take photos of both of us. She makes my Brobs Terminator Personna turn into a Goofinator Personna in a heartbeat. Further good news. My Daughter is pregnant with her second and...
