    Victory Is Mine!

Man, that sucks. I wouldn't dream of packaging any of the pipes or tins I've sold that lazily. Nice score, though!

Does Pipe Smoking Reduce Stress and/or Blood Pressure?

Tobacco use just isn't healthy, and that's a fact. Eating fast food frequently, drinking large volumes of alcohol, and sitting all day are all probably even worse for one's health than pipe smoking, but many people who would frown on tobacco might also readily partake of those. Smoking a pipe...

    Cob Vs. Hardwood Vs. Clay

As for the other questions: Clays have their merits, such as providing a very clean or pure tobacco taste, but they are fragile and tend to smoke hot. The cob is a solid starting point to get the hang of things. Eventually you might want to pick up a MM hardwood and a briar to try out. I...

    Cob Vs. Hardwood Vs. Clay

Being similar in construction, they are also similar in performance. The hardwoods smoke every bit as well as cobs, if not better. Cobs are, perhaps, a bit more absorbent of moisture. My number one most smoked pipe is a MM Zenon bent hardwood with a regular bent stem. I would highly recommend...

***What Are You Smoking, November 2023?***

Smoker's Pride Rum Cured in this slightly customized MM Little Devil Cutty.

    Ten Minute Tiny Pipes

An even smaller pipe than my Mr. Brog No. 20: this diminutive Mr. Brog "Suzi" was my project for this evening. I picked it up for $10. They are marketed as herb pipes, but I figured that, with a proper bit, it could make a good pocket tobacco pipe. After all, it's basically the same as the No...

Same Blend Sold under Different Names.

Same for STG and the Smoker's Pride products. SP Black Cavendish is nigh indistinguishable from BCA and Captain Black Dark.

    PSA: Check Your Tins Folks!

Great answer, thank you. I think I ought to check my tins soon.

Fribourg and Treyer Cut Virginia Plug Availability

True. For buyers like me that are just buying one tin of each blend to sample, it works out. Fingers crossed that SPC starts bringing in larger quantities of them.

A New Shape... The Bent Canadian

That pipe is a work of art, sir.

***What Are You Smoking, November 2023?***

More Amphora Virginia, this time in a Missouri Meerschaum Riverboat Gambler. I'm really liking this stuff.

Fribourg and Treyer Cut Virginia Plug Availability

They're out of Cut Virginia Plug at the moment, but Mars Cigars usually has a decent stock of some of the blends that are always sold out elsewhere - F&T, McConnell, etc. My experience buying from them was a good one.

A New Shape... The Bent Canadian

Finally, a pipe that's big enough for @Chasing Embers.

    Ten Minute Tiny Pipes

I really like my Eatons/Pony Express. They're among my favorite cobs.

    Ten Minute Tiny Pipes

I have a Mr. Brog No. 20 Apple with a very small (.62 x 1") bowl that I use when I want a shorter smoke. It's especially nice when I want to smoke a bit of rubbed out flake, but don't want a long smoke.

    PSA: Check Your Tins Folks!

I would imagine that this depends on the tobacco inside and the climate they are stored in. Wet aromatics with lots of added humectant will take a long time to dry out, whereas I have read of non-aromatics becoming noticeably drier a few weeks after the seal is broken. Indoor humidity will also...

    PSA: Check Your Tins Folks!

How does one tell if the seal on a tin is compromised without opening it? Every tin I've ever purchased has leaked some scent of the tobacco inside, yet they hiss and pop when I open them.

    Peterson EMP vs Amphora English

EMP is very light on the latakia. It's a good blend, but don't expect the strong smoky flavor of a full English. It's hard to go wrong with MM965 or Nightcap. I would also recommend Peterson Old Dublin.

Emptying bowl if not finished...while hot or cooled?

As others have said, you can always come back to it and finish it later. Even the next day, it should be fine. If I finish a bowl, I just dump the ash right away. The only thing you'd need to be concerned about is removing the bit while the pipe is still hot, which is generally inadvisable.
