Hi, I have claw-egg Meerschaums like yours. The shank and claws caramelize well, but never the egg, so I assume it's by design. Maybe the egg is African while the base is Turk? Or different curing to acheive the effect? Do you know? TIA!- mpjetset

Soap Taste When Smoking Virginia
That's not necessarily a problem, it's usually a feature. Hibiscus, or something like it, is a tobacco add and the note is distinctively "soapy." Perhaps it is used because, like perique, it is acidic, which is used to round out alkaline VAs, or maybe some just like the flavor. Blenders - please...- mpjetset
