***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

Probably the better tobacco preparation for a blend like that.

I tried a sample of C&D Bayou Morning, and I must say that this blend didn't sit well with me. It probably came too dry from the retailer - it certainly burned faster than I'd prefer, and I'm not a rapid puffer. Maybe the combination of dryness in the burn put the perique a little too far...

**Now posting in the correct place (the first of the month - any month - comes along faster and faster!).** First smoke of a sample of C&D's Red Odessa, in a Peterson 80s. Strong-brewed black tea, with cream, lightly sweetened with honey.

Oh yes. I've, er, had words with certain of my family members who think they need to monitor my pipe smoking.

James Joyce, the Dubliners and the Pipe

I hasten to clarify that this was his view, not mine! I've enjoyed every trip I've made to Dublin. His view was that of a person who grew up in pretty dire economic circumstances, during a time when Dublin, as a city, was struggling economically itself. One of my former co-workers came of age...

My afternoon and evening bowls are to finish up a sample bag of Northwest Trek from the Country Squire. Pretty solid blend, but probably not a repeat buy for me. Continuing to break in a Peterson Hudson with these smokes.

    Blue Stem Blues

I have a dark green cumberland stem on a pipe stained to an English-tan shade. It looks attractive, IMO, but that's a shade that comports well with brown stains.

My dad has fried his catfish for years in a mixture of buttermilk, cornmeal, salt, pepper, and Tony Chachere's. I usually prefer fish grilled, but his catfish cooked up like this is pretty good!

Between @alaskanpiper and @Country Bladesmith talking about salmon or grilled sausages and onions, my stomach is grumbling and growling like an old bear's!

My wife DETESTS fish and seafood of any kind, so it's rare I get to indulge in anything like grilled salmon, at home or in a restaurant. :(

***What Are You Smoking, July 2020?***

I've had sockeye red plank salted/grilled, and that was straight-up delicious fish. Really rich, with an ideal amount of natural oil in the flesh.
