Best First English Blend for an Aromatic Smoker to Try

I agree. Try an ounce sampler of any of those - no harm, no foul, as the saying goes. If the OP doesn't care for those, there are still lots of aromatics to try.

Best First English Blend for an Aromatic Smoker to Try

Trying something new need not be a radically expensive or shocking thing. You don't have to buy hundreds of dollars' worth of tins and pouches to try a few ounces of some representative blends from the differing families. I'm among those who think that lots of novice smokers really SHOULDN'T...

    Riddle Me This...

Not only are there crazy people buying absurd things, but when I see listings for things I have some knowledge about, and people bidding on them, I just want to shout, "Don't you people know how to comparison shop?" :ROFLMAO: I used to work with a woman who had an eBay shop reselling things she...

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

No, they're pretty good - kind of like blueberries, when they're fully ripe (not red). I'd never tried them until we moved to Oregon. Lots of people here use serviceberries for jams and jellies.

    Falcon Shillelagh Question

I've never seen any Falcon stem other than the international model that is removable (of course, the company's been around for donkey's years, and may have had a model that did have a removable piece).

Today's final pipe: G.L. Pease's Samarra in a Peterson 80s. Tomorrow's workday starts early, so I'll bid you ladies and gents goodnight, and wish you caviar dreams and champagne wishes....

The Rum and Maple sounds like a really nice autumn mix, and I'll probably add a couple of ounces to my next Wilke order.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

So far, I've liked all the Wilke aromatics (and non-aromatics, too!) that I've tried. While none of the ones I've sampled thus far have been soaked/saturated in the manner of some of the Sutliff or Lane aros, the Wilke aros might not be satisfactory to a pipe smoker who appreciates an "honest"...

Glad it's only "somewhat crenellated". Much more than that, and you could station medieval archers there to fire down on the enemy, and pour hot pitch on them.

    Falcon Shillelagh Question

Much as I like Falcon pipes, I wish they'd use a different bit material (if not ebonite, then a better-grade acrylic).

***What Are You Smoking, August 2020?***

Wilke Chocolate in a MM Missouri Pride cob. Another beautiful day here, before this area of the PNW performs its usual trick of getting quite hot again in September (and can you believe it's nearly September ALREADY?). God save us, but the time does fly!

C&D Star of the East flake in a Falcon bent stem with Plymouth briar bowl, on a beautiful late summer evening here.

    What Madness Is This?

I never really looked into it, but I long assumed what Watson was referring to was a rope-style tobacco of the kind sailors received as part of their daily ration (which some chewed instead of smoking it). This also seems to be the conclusion of several of the posters in the site you linked...

    Hello from Germany

Welcome @Abuzer - and your written English is very good indeed. If you ever take a peek at what passes for writing on most US sites - and by native English speakers - you wouldn't feel the need to denigrate your skills!
