    Aged Flake Tobacco

I worked at a pipe shop years ago that had tons of old tobacco hidden away in their cabinets. Back then, around 2005, aged tobacco wasn’t really a ‘thing.’ I found a few tins of McConnel Scottish Flake that had become a solid mass of tobacco. It was delicious. I wish I still had some of those...

    McClelland 5100

Honestly, when I first smoked 5100 I wasn’t that impressed. But guys with a lot more experience told me to buy as much as I could and age it. So I did. I have smoked most of the blends that are supposed to be similar but, in my opinion, nothing really comes close. Granted, all of mine is from...

    Synjeco Mail Call!

I used to order from them years ago. I wonder what happened to the Schürch Mogano. It was a fantastic English with cigar leaf. I still have some bulk buried in my cellar. Sad to see it not available on the site.

    Done with Latakia, For Now

I smoked nothing but Latakia blends when I first started. My first smoke was Murray’s Early Morning Pipe and I never looked back. Then moved on to Virginia’s, but I still go back to Latakia in the colder months for a few bowls.

    Fans of H&H

I think Viprati is Russ’ Virginia masterpiece. It’s his version of a ribbon cut Three Nuns (Viprati’s favorite tobacco). You don’t hear a lot about it, but its definitely worth checking out if you like VaPers.

    Samuel Gawith Golden Glow

I have a few jars aging since 2012. I wasn’t impressed when I first smoked it all those years ago. But after it ages it’s a great smoke.

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

Not yet a pickup. But, after all these years I have finally broke down and placed an order for HU tobacco. I swore no more new tobacco in the cellar, but I bought a tin of Nashville County here, and smoked a few bowls and loved it.

    Who Makes Your Favorite Stems?

I have a few Gabrieli pipes (bluesmoke) and they are extremely comfortable. He models his stems on the French-style, more oval profile. Because of him I started collecting French-made GBD’s.

Blind GH & Co. Bulk Buys... Good, Or Nah?

I personally love Grasmere. If you like G&H, it’s an excellent blend.

    First Impression: Balkan Sobranie

Is it true that the first run of the re-release had Syrian Latakia? I thought I read that here. I have some tins of the first run and can’t tell if it’s the age that has mellowed out the Latakia or if it is Syrian. I get that “wine” taste instead of the campfire/smoky taste I get in newer tins.
