    NON-POLITICAL Election Humor

Tired of the election folks? Sorry, not meaning to troll here, but does it ever occur to you that most politicians WANT you to not pay close attention? That is how they get into office. You stay home and their minions vote them in. Or the grossly misinformed public does. Last election...

New pipe Break In Bitter taste!

As on the other bad pipe taste thread, never ran into this myself, but then, I always look at how my bowls are coated, if at all and I've never tried a Rossi. Seems to me some of these companies DO NOT know what they are doing. If stained, you are screwed. Soak the thing in alcohol and salt...

Why Your NEW pipe tastes SO BAD.

Wow! I have never had a pipe that tasted bad on the first smoke, let alone one I needed to exorcise to this extent upon first smoke or that would have so much crap come out of it! I might write a letter to the company or seller about this. I've never owned a Nording so I cannot say how common...

A Newbie Reviews: C&D Billy Budd

If I remember my study of the occult, a mixture of Billy Bud with Wolfbane and garlic is effective for keeping black witches away. I know, I have some Billy Budd stored here in the house and I have yet to ever have a witch try to enter.

    Pipe Collection

Just curious why a pipe made in Turkey would say, 'Made In Turkey' on it, you know, instead of "Türkiye'de satılan"? Or is every pipe out there made for the American market?

Got a Drilling Problem (Technical Question)

Those core bits linked above are designed for cutting through glass and marble, not wood. It will not do anything but burn the wood. As to cutting teeth in your own tubing, man, do you know how hard most stainless steels are? Have you ever tried machining B9 or 303? And you want to cut and...

    A Grand Day at Peck Manor . . .

I'm sorry, I do not agree; smoking a pipe does NOT seriously harm either me OR the people around me! Just another great lie from government house.

Got a Drilling Problem (Technical Question)

lohengrin, You were probably using a HSS drill bill and were drilling too fast, not removing it often enough to cool and to clear the channel, nand it snapped from the undue heat stress. Cooled off now, the wood of the shank has tightened up and likely has that bit locked in a vise-like hold...

    What Am I Doing Wrong?

First of all Jay, I always dump my ash. Why? If you need to stir unburned tobacco out into the middle and relight or merely retamp, you have loosened up the ash as well which is a very, very fine dust and now some of it will likely get drawn into your mouth affecting the taste or worse. Sounds...

    Fun With Cherries Tonight

You guys like more cherry than I can take--- but I've found that a pinch of Blood Red Moon in an otherwise non-aro mix can have a nice effect of adding more breadth to the flavors.

    What Is Your Personal Motto?

We are all in trouble then when the lessons of history are before us again and totally go unnoticed. Was it not Jorge Santayana who said that those who cannot remember their past are condemned to repeat it (paraphrasing).

    What Is Your Personal Motto?

OK, here is my real motto: The one real constant in life is change.

A Bulldog or a Rhodesian - You Tell Me

It is a Rhodesian bulldog, listen to Michael--- and that is one DAMNED handsome pipe. Color me jealous. Almost too nice to smoke.

A Newbie Reviews: McC 5100 Red Cake

I think you're right. My 5100 will be at least 6 mo to a year aged when it come back up in cue, so, it was a nice mellow smoke and I'm sure I'll use it for something, maybe throw a pinch of other things with it. I rarely smoke a tobacco just as it came from the factory.

    I'm counting on that.

A Newbie Reviews: McC 5100 Red Cake

Fresh, 5100 doesn't do a whole lot for me. I need more flavor and strength. I consider it better for blending, I usually put some cheap tobacco on the bottom of the bowl and save my better more valued tobaccos up top where they will burn.

A Newbie Reviews: C&D Billy Budd

No, HM, you are not alone. Old gym socks soaked in baby puke? I can go with that. This is one of the few I've tried that I really could not like and like others, have put it away to let it age. We shall see. Hopefully, it cannot eat out through the glass jar. Maybe it will make...

Apparently I Am Not Manly Enough For Black Irish X!

randelli, I would not rub those coins out. Instead, cut a couple of thin coins, let them dry a bit, just enough so that they will burn, then load them flat into the MIDDLE of the bowl, with a little ribbon cut both above and below to let them breathe. The ribbon above will help get it burning...
