    Sadik Yanik Freehand

This Pipe would not let me pass on purchasing it. Currently, I only have the one photo, but have been promised them all by Sadik Yanik. Now comes the wait. Turkey is a long way from Texas, but this one will be worth it. It is 7.5" long and 3" high...

    Meerschaum Problem/Question

After thinking about this for awhile, I have a guess that seems to fit this situation Bob. The coloration of the Pipe is odd, apart from the green display. Generally, Block Meerschaum will start to color initially in the Pipe's shank, where the site of condensation from the smoke occurs...

    Meerschaum Problem/Question

I haven't a clue Bob. One thing that I'm curious about is the case. In the top photo, the interior is dark and in the last photos, the interior is light. Is this the same case? Is that a crack in the heel of the bowl? My advise is to get a good Meerschaum. Whatever's going on with this...

What's the worst tobacco you've ever smoked?

I know that I'm outside of the mainstream taste profile, but I don't mind it a bit at all. For me, the worst blends include: 1-Q, Mixture 79, 1792 and John Rolf's Peach Brandy.

Juni, when you say pre-colored Meer, are you referring to a new or previously smoked estate Pipe?

Estate Koncak Bent Billiard Silver Spigot

I've written and compiled a lot of information on the care of Meerschaums over the last 2 years mlaug. The collections of information gleaned over the life of the All Things Meerschaum Group on Smoker's Forum is available to all ATM members, currently numbering 282. My suggestion is to...

Getting Your Butt Kicked on eBay

My bidding participation on e-bay is simple. I place my maximum at what I believe the Pipe or Blend is worth and see what happens. If I win, then I feel that I got a good deal regardless if I paid my maximum or a lesser amount. If I don't win, then I feel that someone else simply paid too...

    Some Good News!!!

Ernest, the good news is that we are still above ground and able to enjoy this most excellent pursuit of Pipe smoking. Lately, I've been unable to leave the house but today it looks like I'll be able to get to the B&M for a smoke and a chat. Life is good.

Estate Koncak Bent Billiard Silver Spigot

Juni, the Block is this color from light use and likely, it hasn't been smoked in years. Part of the cleanup will be to address the layer of grime that the Block's exterior will have, prior to waxing. It will respond well to more use and liberal waxing. Yes Mlaug, I thought that the...

Estate Koncak Bent Billiard Silver Spigot

This Pipe was available for a short bidding time. The Seller didn't know much about Pipes, but was able to answer my questions. I got lucky because for some reason, this Pipe didn't attract any other bidders. It was advertised as as a 1934 Koncak. More likely it's from the 1970's. Koncak...

    How long is a bowl?

During the early days of anyone's Pipe smoking experiences, one of the big conundrums is keeping the Pipe lit. It sounds obvious that the Pipe must be lit to enjoy smoking it, so the neophyte puffs like a locomotive to keep the fire going, likely smoking an Aromatic that is wet as a tropical...

    How long is a bowl?

Mason has hit on the important points but I can add a bit more. The cut and moisture level also are important, especially in smoking Flake blends. Flakes will burn longer, slower and cooler while yielding more flavor when smoked in the slice instead of rubbing them out. Beyond the mechanics...
