Is there a general consensus on what blend a new piper should start on?
The best option is my favorite blend, others might disagree, but that is because they are wrong... lol. But in all seriousness, that's is a really tough question to answer. Post-Lighting re-pack.
Sometimes I have found I wind up with tobacco plugging the draught hole and that is the problem. My solution has always been to run a pipe cleaner through it to open up the draught hole.- lukifer

Not entirely sure but if put on the spot I would have to say the stud extractor. I had previously tried gripping it with the chuck of a drill but that was bending the tenon out of round as it only had 3 points of contact. Just got the tenon out of the shank. After sitting in a jar with a 75% RH boveda packet for a few days I applied ice to the end of the tenon for a few minutes until it was cold then I put a stud extractor on it as tight as possible and gently twisted it out. Sorry about the quality. This is the best I can do with a cheap tracfone. Hopefully this gives you a better idea what I am dealing with here. So I bought a Medico Cavalier off of eBay and the stem was stuck on. So I put it in a bag and let it sit in the freezer over night, didn't work, so I filled it with 99% isopropyl and let that evaporate, still wouldn't budge.
