    Blend Reserved for Treats?

That is a fantastic blend! One of my favorites!

    Blend Reserved for Treats?

I have one tin each of McClellands' Frog Morton series which I will only smoke on special occasions and some C&D Small Batches that I also reserve for occasion, but I'll smoke those more often than the Frogs. I'm getting to the point in my life though that I will smoke even the rare stuff more...

    Missouri Meershaum

I've only tried Country Gentleman and as others noted it isn't a bad smoke by any means, but nothing to write home about either. I have a lot of other VaPer blends I reach for long before this one. It just sits in the jar now. I might try it again to see how time is working on it and report back 🤔

    Grabow Royalton Line Discontinued?

This is sad news and I hope they make a return soon. I was fortunate enough to buy a Royalton Bulldog from WV Smoke Shop a few years ago and it is a great looker and smoker.

    Great Blog Breaking Down Orientals

Big thanks for the article link! I too love all varieties of the oriental leaf and can't get enough of it.

    Jiminks 3000th Tobacco Review!

Very cool and thanks for giving everyone great info on all these tobaccos. I know your reviews have been extremely helpful along my tobacco journey to pinpoint the next blend to try. Keep'em coming Jim!

    Cringle Flake 2022 Dec 3rd

Can't really say for sure that anything I did made my taste and smell come back any quicker than it did; I took a lot of vitamin C and D supplements and ate as healthy as I could. Everything I read said it varies among each individual as to the length of time, a co-worker said it took her a year...

    Desert Island Tobacco

G.L Pease Embarcadero; I really like the balance between the Virginias and Orientals in this one and how they each seem to enhance the flavor of the other as you smoke through the bowl.

Is there any kind of guide to C&D?

C&D is my favorite blending house but they do offer a bewildering number of blends. I used the same tactic as others here when I first started smoking pipe tobacco of reading suggestions from people on forums such as this one and also reading reviews on tobaccoreviews.com and focusing on what...

    Underrated Blends?

A blend I like but rarely see mentioned is C&D King Kake; it's a aromatic in their cellar series that has a birthday cake with nuts flavor that I find enjoyable and a good switch up to the non-aromatic tobaccos I usually smoke. I also think Mac Baren's HH Bold Kentucky doesn't get mentioned as...

New Presbyterian Danish Flake coming soon?

I definitely like a great Oriental blend and appreciate aromatics to switch things up time to time.

New Presbyterian Danish Flake coming soon?

I do believe it to be another addition to the line because this is the second time I've heard about it, can't remember the first source but they showed the same orange tin with the same name for the blend. I agree with Chasing Embers in the belief it will be another lack luster aromatic blend...

    Looking for fruity Va/Per blends

GL Pease Windjammer and C&D Kajun Kake are on the fruitier side of the perique spectrum.

    Mac Baren's HH Burley Flake

Thanks for a great review. I've been wondering what this one was like and you answered all of my questions.

    HH Bold Kentucky

HH Bold Kentucky is my favorite Mac Baren blend so far. I love the strong meaty BBQ flavors and the smoothness of the smoke. Plus it packs and burns easy and slow so I can savor a bowl for a long time. I like ODF too but prefer BK over it.

    Question about mixing tobaccos.

I have not tried this but agree with some of the advice given; get some more experience with some different tobaccos and blends and then experiment. You might try starting much more conservative than the aro/English combo, something more like a Virginia blend paired with an Oriental or burley...

School me on Tobacco Quality Grades

I'm certainly not expert at this but the little info I have found on the subject is mainly from interviews I've seen on YouTube and the like from Jeremy Reeves of Cornell & Diehl and Pers Jensen of Mac Baren. According to them some of the variables in tobacco pricing are of course the quality of...

    Whatcha Smokin' for the Holidays?

I will be loading a pipe of L.J. Peretti's Thanksgiving Day on T Day and be opening a tin of We Three Kings on Christmas. I haven't decided on a New Years blend yet...maybe some C&D King Cake since it is sweet and seems to fit with the upbeat mood.

    VaPer or VaBur?

I have to agree with cigrmaster, both VaPers and VaBurs are right up my alley for different reasons; VaPers when I want a sweet and spicy smoke and VaBurs when I want a smoke with some deeper, bolder flavors but balanced with maybe a little sweetness. So to make a long story short I agree with...

    What Are Some Light/Sweet VA/VaPers?

My recommendation is G.L. Please Stonehenge Flake; it's got a light chocolate topping which gives it sweetness and the perique is on the stone fruit side with little to no spice to speak of. I've found C&D Kajun Kake with a year or two out of the tin gets sweet and fruity, when young and...
