    English Fatigue?

I love Latakia but I don't smoke English blends back to back or everyday because of palate fatigue. I switch between blend types very often, usually never smoking the same blend twice in a day, which I find helps me retain the ability to pick out all the flavors I like in each of them. I also...

HU Tobacco Coming to the States

Smokingpipes will have them. I was on the site Monday night and they had a HU tab up and a bunch of them listed, all out of stock of course. I now notice the tab isn't there so I believe it was a test. Beans mentioned Oct 29th as a possible drop date which is what WCC has on their homepage...

    Lane Limited Bulk Blends…

I give another vote for HGL. It was the first blend with Latakia I ever tried and the second pipe tobacco I ever tried and I was hooked! 1Q isn't bad either.

    Trying Out an English Blend.

Give Peter Stokkebye's English Oriental Supreme a try. It is a very balanced blend with the perfect amount of Latakia to let you know it's there. C&D Byzantium and Engine 99 are both good and have more Latakia in them. Or you could go all out and try C&D Pirate Cake or Captain Earls Ten Russians...

Recommendations for C&D Bulk Blends with Latakia

Just looking at your list I would suggest Byzantium and Engine 99. Byzantium is very Oriental forward with a good amount of Latakia, so it is smoky with some sour notes. Engine 99 is very Lat forward with a more barbeque sauce and smoked meat type of flavor. I keep them both in regular rotation.

"Blind Buying" 16oz of GL Pease - Help me Pick which Blends!

Embarcadero is an excellent Virginia-Oriental blend that can be had in 8oz tins and is worth stocking up on.

    Scarecrow Release Time?

It depends what kind of blend you like. I bought quite a few tins the last two times it came out and can attest that it is a very good aromatic. It has flavors of candy corn, caramel, and offers a creamy smoke. The tobacco that comprise the blend are top notch and it isn't goopy or require any...

Fall and Pipes: Made for Each Other

Good article and I agree, Fall is my favorite time of the year for pipe smoking and being outdoors. A time to slow down after a busy spring and summer, sit back, and relax with a fine pipe and good tobacco.

    New, from Dayton Ohio

Always good to meet a fellow Ohioan! Greetings from Hillsboro, Ohio! I too started this journey with cigars, and though I still enjoy one occasionally, once I got into pipe tobacco I haven't much need of a cigar.

    Pipe Hobby Waxing and Waning

My pipe and cigar smoking schedule is dependent on my ability to get time to do it which ebbs and flows. Lately I haven't had the time, so I haven't smoked a pipe in a month. Sometimes I'll go a few months to a close to a year without being able to smoke. In the meantime I am on forums such as...

    Favorite Holiday Blends?

Sutliff is re-releasing Maple Shadows this year. It is a maple flavored aro that I found enjoyable and not goopy at all. It's similar to C&D Autumn Evening but not as sweet. Also saw on Sutliff's distributor site they list Cringle Flake 2024, so it will be back for sure with a 12/3/24 release date.

    Carolina Red Flake 2024

I managed to get 2 tins of CRF and threw in 2 tins of Golden Days Of Yore for the heck of it.

Sherman 536 (Empire English) replacement suggestions are appreciated.

Yep, Peter Turbo nailed it. I have smoked the two side by side because I too loved the Nat Sherman 536 and Peter Stokkebye English Oriental Supreme has the same blend components and flavors. It's a bulk blend too so you can stock up for way less money 😁👍

Corn Cob Pipe I did it!

Have a few Country Gentleman's and a ton of cobs and I love every one of them! Still smoke the first one I bought in 2015, it's a Legend. They make many shapes and sizes for the perfect length smoke.

Peterson Irish Cask is a good one that doesn't get mentioned much.

LJ Peretti: No. 8 Slices & Cambridge Flake

Always good to hear about B&M shops that still provide the above and beyond customer care of yesteryear. I guess I will be calling them to place my next order! They make some excellent blends.

    Favorite Boswell Blend

Yet another vote for Northwoods. I will definitely try Christmas Cookie this year!

    Haunted Bookshop

Haunted Bookshop is one of my favorites. In fact it would be my desert island blend if I could only have one blend to smoke. I have a tin of the cake version I plan on mixing 50/50 with C&D Pirate Kake to make Matches860's Haunted Pirate Ship for spooky season this year 👍

Do You Have an Aversion to Bulldogs?

I am definitely a fan of bulldogs and Rhodesians and own several examples. I'm least crazy about egg and fan shaped pipes but I know myself too well to say I'll never own one because as soon as I'm sure I hate a shape I end up seeing a rendition that makes me a liar. 😂
