    Tobacco Pouches

I started out using a pretty expensive leather case thinking it was really cool....in the last year however, I've fallen in love with those dirt-cheap fold-up plaid pouches. They might be ugly but they take up less room, keep my tobacco in great shape for several days, and are perfect for the...

    What are You Reading?

They were deadly! Slow braised with aromatic vegetables and herbs in a deep red wine & beef consume' reduction. I'm getting ready to turn the sound off on the Tigers game and read another short-story or two out of a book compiled by W. B. Yeats.

WARNING: IF YOU SMOKE 'THEY' WANT YOU DEAD!

I try not to listen to it anymore. My son's a physician and was kind enough to explain the H1N1 hysteria. He told me when the propaganda would peak when it would disappear and why. He and his were correct,....in short it was a political maneuver used to expedite a small number of appointments...

    Very Loose Stem

Several of our fellow members here have given suggestions in the past, two in particular have helped me solve the "Loose Stem" problem. The first is to warm the tenon up using a gentle source of heat such as boiling water. (I have used the cook-top burner very succesfully but wouldn't recommend...

    Why are Dunhills so costly?

Oops,...after going back and reading every word of the thread, I may owe one poster an explanation, if not an apology. I had thrown out an arbitrary price and said something like "If you smoke a $500 pipe, who gives a %#@*?" After reading the post preceding mine just this morning...for the...

What do you suggest as a good morning smoke?

Dunhills' Standard Mixture Mild or their Standard Mixture are two blends that I occasionally reach for first. Burley London Blend goes well with the coffee I drink, and Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic is another of my choices for a first smoke.

    Best Burley?

 Romeowood...I'm so glad you liked that. I think I'll have a bowl right now.

    50's fridge = humidor?

If you get her runnin' again, you might get tempted to fill it with beer! I've got a workin' old fridge out in the garage that's been kept full of beer since the 1980's. I wouldn't trade it for a humidor the size of a walk-in-closet! But,...it does sound like a pretty cool idea...

    Why are Dunhills so costly?

We had a guy at the fire-station who refused to eat Hunts Catsup because he thought it tasted horrid. As with so many other times at the old fire-station,...if you quack too loud you get called out. After a blind-folded taste-test at the kitchen table one morning after breakfast..we all learned...

    Aromatics and corn cobs.

Ohin3,....exact same experience here. My favorite cob is dedicated to good old 1-Q....and is the daily smoke I can always look forward to sans any thought of a wet or hot smoke...or any dread that it might be one of those "get yer lighter out ten times" smokes. My cob and 1-Q is my favorite...

    What don't you Recommend?

 Ha ha! I never said they were bad blends,...I just said I personally have never recommended them! I can't think of any that I would tell people to avoid.

    What Did You do Today?

Laid out by the pool and smoked a bowl of Standard Mixture Mild until I started to break a sweat, went in the house and had a mini-fish fry for Friday,....drank a cold beer and found out I was "Not smarter than a fifth-grader"! Right now I'm sitting on my butt thinking about sending my wife out...

    What don't you Recommend?

If, of all the tobaccos I have tried there are only some that I have recommended, then there must be tobaccos I have not recommended. These would be: Altadis Medium English 502 067 Bayou Morning Half & Half Shortcut to Mushrooms Prince Albert

    "Who Let the Dogs Out?!"

You guys have got some beautiful pipes! And my going over, (and over), your photos only makes me want to pick up a few more examples of what is quickly becoming my favorite style.

    HELP!

Best of luck to you Frank, it's so sad to hear that. Unfortunately I would imagine that even if you could present them with a briefcase full of the most accurate statistics you could find, they still wouldn't listen,.........they don't want the truth, they just want to pat themselves on the back...
