Some opinions and a hello after an absence.

Hextor, Don't worry about it burning out. It will but it takes far more that you'd imagine. If you want to get the absolute most out of it, maintain the bottom with 'pipe mud' (ash and water/saliva, give it a search) and do your best not to smoke hot and fast. Once a bit of a cake builds up, it...

    Duplicate pipes

As others have mentioned, I have many duplicate cobs. As far as briars, while there are no true duplicates in my collection, I have a 7 day set of Boswells I love. They are all different from each other, but two of the small ones are almost identical and two of the mid size are almost...

Why are Dunhill pipes so expensive?

If you're asking hesitantly, you already know the answer.... (how many cob jokes do you think I can make before getting in trouble?)

That a good ratio. Honestly I still have far more briars than cobs, and plan to keep it that way. One of the things I like the most about cobs, is that I do not feel the need to rotate them that often, I usually stick to legends, they are nice and light to clench and their bowl gives me a good...

    Spigot pipes?

Its really just the fitting between the bowl and stem. It doesnt serve any added purpose, simply a different design. That being said, I do love the way they look.

Some opinions and a hello after an absence.

Coincidence enough, shortly after writing this post, the MM grab bag I ordered arrived at my house. Thats a pretty solid bargain. I ended up with a great dane spool, an ozark, a MacArthur 5 star, 3 bent legends, and 4 straight legends. Anyone who wants to start a decent cob collection should...

Why are Dunhill pipes so expensive?

I have a couple Dunhills. They smoke great, absolutely fantastic. They are one of the few brain pipes I own that smoke as consistently well as my cobs.....HA!

Some opinions and a hello after an absence.

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've posted at all here. When I was more active, I was in college and a member of a pipe club. Since I very been gone, I've seriously started my life. I have a fiance, and a career, and a residence of my own. It's been a good year or so for me. While I...

Why We Like What We Like

For me what causes me to buy a pipe is its looks, I like nice grains, but lately I have been liking chunky pipes, especially ball shapes that are sandblasted. I love how they feel in my hand. However, when I decide to keep a pipe it generally are the ones that smoke the best regardless of...

    Every tobacco tastes like saltwater

    Posted twice. Apologies.

    Every tobacco tastes like saltwater

Had this myself a year or two ago, and everything definitely did taste salty as far as smoke goes. Diagnosed the same as well. It sure is disconcerting. For me I used some Anbesol and took about a month off of smoking and everything is all right again. Hope everything works out for you!

    How often is "occasional"?

I have to say I dont thinnk I have ever been addicted to my pipe. I consider occasionally maybe 4 times a week and that is probably my average. Sometimes more sometimes less. That being said during stressful times I up it to two or three times a day for months at a time. Ive never had a...

    The lopsided cellar dweller.

All Va/vapers for me, although I am getting in a sizable amount of Mississippi River in shortly so add whatever that is to the mix. Its been on my list to delve into Englishes and Orientals though, have to start somewhere

    Tobacco-ing Up A Coworker

Good to hear it. It's funny I actually logged on tonight to post basically this same thing. Got a coworker off of cigarettes and started on pipes. We ordered some PS LBF and some Mississippi River together, he ordered a cob and I gave him a briar. He seems to enjoy but I'm keeping my figures...
