    For the Coffee Heads

I misspoke on that one, they actually prefer using a white flannel sock.

    For the Coffee Heads

In fact, I live in South Florida and 3/4 of my neighbors are Hispanic, and a lot of them actually do use a white cotton sock to brew coffee....they will put the very dark espresso into the sock, and then pour the hot sweet water very slowly over the coffee. The best way to do that is to just...

    For the Coffee Heads

Dark as Night...Sweet as Love. Gotta love it. The old Hispanic way with the sock funnel makes for a dark, and sweet cup of joe also, because sugar is added to the water before pouring over the sock full of strong java. I think I'm going to go on the bay and get me one of those ibrik's....then...

    For the Coffee Heads

Lawrence, I also have crushed my beans in a mortar and pestle, makes a perfect grind for the press, a percolator, and the Japanese method pot. I went through the roasting my own beans route, in fact I still have some green Costa Rican beans that are awesome, and a roaster that is now a dust...

Buying from Ebay and using what i buy.

I have one bid going also, it is a package deal that ends tomorrow and includes 2 Kaywoodie's...my favorite pipe in the whole damn World. It is a package deal of 5 pipes, and also comes with a stand .....if you are bidding on that one lets see if we can work things out as all I want are the two...

Remember Those that Gave Their Lives

Now that's the only fighting I will agree to, there is way too much violence in the World, I know I've seen enough of it, and I'm tired of it all. I don't even like the petty arguing over nonsense anymore, it is all so foolish! Thanks for the welcome home Ace, it is good to be welcomed...

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Aged RLP-6 in a 1947 Kaywoodie bent....I love this pipe so much, all my others are just dust collectors.

Remember Those that Gave Their Lives

Just in case some are wondering how that dying while in training is possible, let me state that not only is it possible, but every Ranger class that I am familiar with had brothers die while in training....the general public just doesn't hear about it. We used to train HARD for 23 (TWENTY THREE)...

Remember Those that Gave Their Lives

Viet Nam veteran here, and LITERALLY with tears in my eyes I want to welcome home all those that made it back....and my thoughts are always with those that didn't come home. I am home but missing a leg, and I for one cannot watch any type of war movie, or read a book about war...I just want to...

List Your Other Hobbies / Interests

Martial Arts (used to be an instructor), Music, Decorative Arts, painting. Cooking is an art to me also. Philosophy, Anthropology, Inner peace, I also went to a Music college, (Berklee)...so art is a huge part of my life, in fact life to me is art.

    My 3rd aged aromatic

"Remember that a person's tastes can change quite a bit over time". Nemrod, what you say is true, and I have thought about that as being the reason, thus the comparison, and although I can see my tastes changing with one blend, the odds greatly increase now that the same results have happened...

    No Smoking

Yeah, we used to get Lucky Strikes, or Pall Mall non filters in our C-rations...that was so we could field strip the butt, no filters. I honestly think the World has gone nuts!....it's the lack of sugar, and salt in the diet. We need sugar for our brains to function properly, and what with the...

    My 3rd aged aromatic

Just to be sure, I just ordered some more RLP-6, and it should be here next week....so I will do a side by side comparison using the same pipe....so if anyone is interested, I'll post the 'HONEST' results. I suppose I could go out and get some Capt. Blk. tomorrow, but I'm not that crazy about...

    My 3rd aged aromatic

Well perhaps 'age' isn't the correct word...let me say improved. Will the aromatics 'age' like a fine wine, or a C.H.,....perhaps not, so let me clarify the terminology for all that read this post....I notice what to me is an improvement in the tobacco. Perhaps it has something to do with the...

Buying from Ebay and using what i buy.

Lawrence has a good point. This is also a great way to learn to restore pipes...get them cheap off the bay, and learn. I've restored a couple of pipes I got for cheap money, and in doing so the pipes became a part of me. My favorite pipe is an old Kaywoodie I got for a song off the bay...

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Some two year old RLP-6, in a Savinelli long billiard with a saddle bit. Edit:....but as good as the Sav. is, I still like my Kaywoodie better, I'm actually thinking about emptying out this Sav., and putting the tobacco back in my Kaywoodie.....naah!
