I just checked the site, and yep, that's the company alright! I bought a lighter that worked for a few days, sent them an email and they were real jerks about the whole situation. If I remember right, I bought from them via eBay.- ranger

Of course don't forget that when you are smoking, the aroma is not the same as when you are standing in the room while someone else smokes...but I'm sure you knew that already. When letting out the smoke let some go out your nose also, and that will help capture some of the aroma of the tobacco.- ranger

To me the aroma of Captain Black is reminiscent of the old days. In fact, I'm about to light up a bowl right now of Capt. Black in a nice 47 Kaywoodie... Ah, the simplistic ways of bygone years.....I love it.- ranger

"Why do so many pipe smokers always recommend heavily aromatic tobaccos for beginners"? Also, that is simply my/our opinion(s), just the same way you have your opinion which I may, or may not agree with, but you have a right to state your opinion don't you, and you should be able to do so...- ranger

"Why do so many pipe smokers always recommend heavily aromatic tobaccos for beginners"? The reason I do is that part of the pipe experience in the beginning is the aroma, and you can buy capt. black anywhere.- ranger

Why so anal over your pipe?
"different strokes for different folks, ....some people NEVER clean their pipe." I am almost in that category, however, since I smoke a kaywoodie with the stinger, I must clean out the stinger once a day or else I won't be smoking my favorite pipe for very long. -

Thanks for the feedback on this, I was beginning to wonder if I was in a time warp? I mean this guy even wiped down the top rim of the bowl each time to remove any tiny bit of carbon, and kept cleaning until it was spotless! I for one like the look of a pipe with a little bit of carbon on the... -

I do clean my pipe, but it is at the end of the day after I've smoked a few bowls in it, then it is simply pipe cleaner time, and remove any bits of tobacco in the bottom of the bowl, stand it up until tomorrow. -

Trouble Distinguishing Between Tobacco's
Try picking up a couple of corn cobs and designate each one to one tobacco...smoke one cob with one tobacco for a day or so, then switch to another cob and different tobacco....that should help.- ranger

A good starter is a corn cob pipe, you can get one for a few bucks, and while you're at the drug store picking up a corn cob, get some Captain black tobacco....so for well under $20.00 you will be smoking. Many people that have been smoking for decades will still only smoke corn cob pipes. You...- ranger

lonely ignored pipe cleaners
I like Falcon extra thins..only available in England (as far as I know)...I like them because they are the only cleaners that will go all the way through the small holes of my Kaywoodies. They are somewhat rare, thus somewhat expensive also as far as pipe cleaners go...but I really do need them.- ranger
