Is the current Dunhill still high quality tobacco?

I'm planning to get some Dunhill Flake in the near future... Any opinions on that one guys?

Year old Escudo in a Country Gentleman... So far this is my trademark.

    Newbie question - Building Cake

Fair enough, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. Thanks.

    Samual Gaiwith no more

jpberg, that's the way I look at it... I've stopped crying over the absence of the Gawith blends I was looking for and I am more than happy to explore the bounty that's out there.

My Visit To A Belgian Tobacconist (pic heavy)

Belgium is my first choice for a European destination, although once you are across the pond pretty much everything is in reach. I'm chomping at the bit to get over there but it'll probably take me a few years...

My Visit To A Belgian Tobacconist (pic heavy)

I want a trip to Belgium for the beer but by the looks of it I'd be very happy exploring the tobacco selection as well! Nice B&M - I'm glad Belgium hasn't proceeded with ridiculous display laws yet... I would love to experiment with some of those European blends, unfortunately the prices are...

    BOB'S Chocolate Flake

This was my first "fine" pipe tobacco and my first exposure to latakia and my first (only) exposure to the Lakeland essence. I was not completely sold on it at first, so I put it aside to age. Now 1.5 years later I will revisit that jar and see if there is even a slight chocolate taste left...

Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake - OMG

Yeah, I'd probably get palpitations from it. I'm eager to taste that topping though! The descriptions have me captivated.

    Newbie question - Building Cake

Any other good suggestions? I know it is subjective as Lawrence and others said, but I'm just interested in hearing what other people use. I've got some PA on the way because when I first signed up it seemed like that was what a lot of people recommended, but I know it is one of those YMMV...

    Removing A Lot Of Cake

I should look for a practise pipe, myself... I'm a bit nervous about reaming an expensive pipe for the first time.

Cant stop thinking this after shopping at Whole Foods....

baron, I agree that many producers put an unfair markup on organics. In my area, it would be a struggle for an upper middle class family to put organic food on the table. My income isn't high and as I result I have to make plenty of concessions and accept conventional meat and produce a lot of...

    Samual Gaiwith no more

I hear what you're saying. I came to that point awhile ago. I'll happily pick up some FVF or St. James if I see it but I'm sick of searching under rocks for the stuff... I passed up Squadron Leader, Golden Glow, Navy Flake, and a few more on my last order - even though I haven't tried them yet...

Cant stop thinking this after shopping at Whole Foods....

John, I'm afraid I just can't comprehend your stance on this. It sounds like you are against something that you haven't given more than a moment's thought; at first glance, it doesn't seem like you have put much time into considering all the angles of such a complex issue... A lot of the fruits...

    A Book Review

I have that one on my shelf, still untouched for the time being... Thanks for the review! (I also have Drink by Gately, a social history of alcohol)

Tried a cigar out of curiosity

I've smoked a couple Cuban cigars but they are too expensive and the selection around here is pretty terrible - plus the turnover is low and they are probably in poor condition. If I had a good tobacconist nearby I might be singing a different tune...

    Disappointed in myself and bummed...

No point in worrying now about this incident's impact on your future; cross bridges as you come to them. We all make mistakes but it won't hurt you to soul search, think about where and why you went wrong, and make a resolution to yourself not to go down that path again. Honestly, tobacco is the...

Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake - OMG

I'm definitely not ready now but maybe in 3-5 years I'll be hardened from battle and up for the challenge... Since it's all Virginia, it should improve nicely.

Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake - OMG

smoking dragon, was the tonquin topping still present after a few years? If so, I may consider getting a tin for the cellar...

Samuel Gawith 1792 Flake - OMG

I'm too afraid to try it. I am a nicotine lightweight, and despite the fact that I am really interested in tasting the tonquin topping, I'm not so naive to think that I'll be able to handle 1792. I've got Sam's Flake on the way as I have heard that that is a milder VA with tonquin. They aren't...
