    Non Babe Newbie

Welcome aboard. My wife is a RN and she busts her butt on a Med surg floor. I wish she'd take up pipe smoking to relax. You've gotten a ton of great advice but I always try and keep Jud's in mind...."it's a journey". Even the not so stellar parts. Those are the best to learn from.

    Smoking At Work

It's against the law to smoke in public places here. I work for city government and your not even supposed to smoke on or in city property. I'm pretty lax about my guys doing it as long as they keep it confined to an area around the corner and keep it clean. I do smoke in my work truck and I...

What Are You Smoking? *March 2013*

Solani 633 in a Aldo Velani bent apple. Sitting at the kitchen table, tablet, cup of coffee, and my dog sitting next to me. Good day.

    Pipe Smoking on TV

I've seen a bit of pipe smoking on Ripper Street on BBC America, but not enough to be historically accurate IMO.

Which Do You Pick First? Pipe or Tobacco?

Just curious. I was staring into my ibrik this morning and thinking about rituals. My mind wandered to smoking and I found myself realizing I picked out which pipe I wanted to smoke out more often then which tobacco I wanted to smoke. This is odd for me since I tend to be more focused on...

    Restoration Staining Oops

I can't see it Trail. You did a good job of fixing it.

How Many Tobaccos Have You Tried?

Man, I'd have to guess about 25. I think I'm starting to get a good feel for what I enjoy. It's curious sometimes on how much of a miss it is though sometimes. A recent tin which should have been perfect for me has been kind of a dog, but I'm trying it a few more times before I jar it. I...

    My First "Real" Pipe

Congrats Raven! I like the stain on that pipe. Also as far as advice goes on packing... My best advice is to know when to unpack it and start over. Don't push it. If the draw feels to tight then pull it out and restart. I know it seems common sense, but when you figure you'll spend 45 min to...

    Flake Recommendations

Rattray Marlin Flake is Fantastic. Sweet, sticky, rich, it really has a over ripe raisin sweetness I love. It burns smoothly too, even if you just rub it out thickly. I know I harp on this stuff all the time but I think it's terrific.

Rusticated Pipe Has 2 Slits on Outside of Bowl

Welcome and sorry mgolfd. If you do end up going for the superglue route there's a black tinted super glue. (I didn't know that until a few months ago) Also you'd probably need to "mud" over the interior of the bowl with a mix of ash/water/honey to protect it. I've actually only done it once...

Mac Baren Club Blend vs. PS Luxury Bullseye Flake

Thread Necro: Okay I've been smoking Club Blend for about a week and I have to say I really like it. I would say it's quite a bit different then LBF. Club Blend to me has a molasses front with a spicey ginger-like end from the Cavendish. It's got a very sweet component that isn't there in LBF...

    Your Current Rotation

Ghost crack that bad boy open! As of right now these are in my final 4. Rattray's Marlin Flake Prairie Wind PS LNF PS LBF I do keep a few floater tins for special treats.

    PAD (Had to Do It!)

Congrats! I have a natural Sav Billiard I bought a few months ago. I really like it, smokes very well considering what I paid for it. Mine's turned a nice shade of reddish brown in just a short time.

    Bulk Tobacco Prices

I think it depends on which bulks, but it seems like Pipes and Cigars had lower prices on their PS LBF then Smoking Pipes did when I ordered last.

Best English blend for Someone New.

I have to second the notions of Chelsea Morning and EMP. Both are really soft yet full flavored blends IMO. EMP has a little heavier tilt towards Orientals but both are tobaccos I enjoyed. I don't normally smoke English blends, but I keep Chelsea Morning at work and actually found myself...
