New Smoker, No Taste
Welcome to the forum andrew. I don't think the 'no-taste' phenomenon is all that rare actually. My oldest son had the same experience. He just experimented with different tobacco's until he found the right chemistry. Keep kickin' around until you hit it. Don't give up....- topd

I don't smoke when ill and feeling bad, but I had bronchitis a couple of time. I didn't feel all that bad so lit-up. Worst mistake I ever made! Even though most of us don't inhale, you do get a dose inadvertently, just by the process of breathing.- topd

Replacement Stems, How Much do They Reduce the Value?
I may have an alternate view: The reason for "needing" a replacement may be because the original stem may be beyond it's serviceable life. The answer to your original question, does it affect the value..... Yes! But I wouldn't leave a chewed-up, bent, broken stem on an unusable pipe.... Do...- topd
