    Tomorrow I Order Black House

My wife likes the aroma of both Nightcap and Ten Russians - will she object to Black House?

    Great Quotes

Never look at the brass; it only encourages them. Richard Strauss

    Jackknife versus Triple Play

I agree with Mr. English - TP is not just JK plus perique, but after smoking a tin of each, I reordered JK but not TP - so I guess they are similar enough in my mind that I didn't need them both around. IMO JK is stronger in nicotine, but not by a whole lot.

    Sasieni 4 Dot

I had one of these for ten years before I figured out what worked in it. Now it's one of my favorites for balkan blends - doesn't seem to like anything else. I second the pipe mud/fireplace mortar/tile grout solution.

    Thanks to Netflix

Excellent! We loved the British version and are eagerly awaiting the new one. I believe we have seen Bleak House ten times. (Both of these have Ian Richardson in spades. Sorry about the pun.) Also recommend Doc Martin for a well-acted, on-location-in-Cornwall celebration of awkwardness.

    XL Sasieni

Is this the same Sasieni that makes the Ruff-Root? It's a looker, for sure.

Another Edition of "What Should I Open Next?"

I vote for the Russians - can't get enough of it! But if you opt for the Hell's Kitchen, please post a review. It sounds really good.

    Pairing Beer With Tobacco

As others have said: IPAs do not work for me with the pipe. I love them both, but not together - the IPA actually causes me pain, no matter the tobacco (it seems worse with VAs, though). An uncarbonated English brew at cellar temperature is OK with any kind of tobacco for me, though.

Number Nine, Number Nine, Number Nine...

Ah, I was only trying to be funny, which never works. We appreciate your work on keeping the forums going. The efforts are noticeable. Cheers!

What Are You Smoking? *January 2013*

I'm having a mix of McClelland's 2035 (Dark Navy Flake) and a pinch from the "remainders" can - some 1-Q and "natural cavendish" (which is neither) with some coffee.

Number Nine, Number Nine, Number Nine...

The word everyone takes a singular object, i.e., his, as in, "We encourage everyone to do his best," n'est-ce pas? As for style sheets, how about the great, vaunted, most excellent Chicago Manual of Style? (Why anybody follows a style manual from a bunch of psychologists is beyond me!) :-)

    Don't Do This With Nightcap!

I am doing this with Nightcap, right now, with some coffee (thanks, Cajun) and it's about the nicest bowl I've had this month.

What Are You Smoking? *January 2013*

Nightcap in a cob with a cup of strong coffee, as recommended on another thread. It's delightful!

    Drum Corps or Marching Bands.

I attended finals in 1993 as a spectator. It was fun to see, and I've enjoyed some regional shows over the years, but I'm with Jud - pipe bands, pipe bands!
