Trying my 1st "twist" tonight. Any advice?

Agree with Cigarmaster - lots of drying time and gravity-fill. Don't pack tightly. I would add that you should eat dinner first, especially if you have any sensitivity to nicotine.

Pros and Cons to Buying Locally vs Buying Online

Concerning my local shop: Cons: They're in the very middle of a shopping mall (that's the biggest negative aspect - egads), the prices are a little higher and the selection is not as deep as I can find with some on-line retailers, and they seem to do mostly cigar business (small store, big...

    Looking for Virginia Flakes

I've been making my way through a tin of Peter Heinrich's Dark Strong Flake that was recommended to me at the local B&M as a cheaper almost-as-good substitute for Solani. It's VA and burley, smells of molasses in the tin and smokes sweet with no bite (for me). It's going to be a regular for...

    Nasal snuff...opinions?

Little old ladies in the Appalachians would take the bark off of a small birch twig until it was about the size and diameter of half of a toothpick, wet that, dip it into a can of scotch snuff, and put it between the cheek and gum. It was invariably American Snuff's "Dental" line - I guess the...

    Jackknife Plug?

+1. I recommend a cube cut for this blend. Nic is not overpowering, to my taste, but slow smoking lessens the effect as well as heightens the muted sweetness.

    The Cube Cut Method

Another convert - cube cutting makes my flakes taste much sweeter than the fold'n'stuff method. I've been making my way through some GLP Jackknife and a tin of Heinrich's Dark Strong Flake and have had nothing but near-transcendent bowls. Thanks for the tutorial!

    GH&C Black Irish X

I ordered a tinned XX rope some time ago and was overwhelmed with everything about it. I put it away for a few weeks and then cut some coins, let them dry for about 4 hours and found that it was a little more palatable. The last time I opened the tin and tried the cut-and-dry for several hours...

    What's a shape you just don't like?

I can't abide the volcanos, especially the straight-grained high-relief stained ones; for some reason, they remind me of leisure suits and avocado-colored shag carpets.
