    Dunhill Flake

I adore Dunhill Flake. I have had at least one tin of it in my stash for the past 10 years. Age does to it just what you would think it does to it. Rounds out any rough edges and smokes cool, soft and sweet with just a little sweet spice in the nose. Like someone cooling a sweet potato pie...

Which G L Pease Blend To Try First?

@ cigarmaster: I totally agree with you on JackKnife Plug. I want to love it but I feel it needs more age or just the right pipe because when its good its phenomenal, but most times it turns sharp and harsh. If you are a nic fan and a Va/per fan you should try Stratford, Haddos Delight and...

Would Like to Say Hello, Just starting Out

Welcome to the sickness that will soon have you contemplating spending less on food and more on pipes and tobacco. Cobs are a great way to try a variety of tobacco types in individual pipes without breaking the bank. Once you know what kind of tobaccos you really like to smoke you can start...

    Scotch Drinkers in the House?

So many whiskies, so little time. I'm a fan of any well made Scottish whisky be it blended or single malt. My taste in whisky is much like my taste in pipes and tobacco. Different whisky for different moods, times of year, time of day...etc... Currently have open: Ardbeg 10 year...

    Can Someone Explain Dutch Aromatic?

Sucks that they don't import the Dutch aromatics in the states any more. I suppose there is a benefit or 2 to living in Nova Scotia ha ha. Amphora does indeed taste like it smells and is very high quality product. I would steer you towards the W.O. Larsen tobaccos. I'm thinking, in...

    Buying a New Pipe Dilemma

Good god man buy that Stanwell. That is a beautiful pipe. I own 3 Stanwells and they all smoke great. Never owned a Vauen but would love to try one. They seem to make affordable well made pipes.

    Tropic smoke

I live in Nova Scotia and I can tell you for sure that humidity levels will change any tobacco from great to a hot bloated steamy mess. I am from Ohio and never had an issue with tobaccos that were slightly damp. Just spread them out on a piece of paper for an hour and voila, ready to smoke...

Are All Butane Brands Basically the Same?

I just bought an Im Corona Old boy last year and after filling it with Ronson butane was feeling like I wasted a lot of money on a lighter. When visiting my family over Christmas I had to buy a bottle of butane to fill my old boy and all they sold was Xikar. What a HUGE difference. No more...

Are You a Right or a Left?

Right handed but pipe is usually on the left of my pie hole. Never really made a conscious effort, just turned out that way. Keeping the dominant hand free for tamping, lighting and other tasks seems like good logic.

    Pipe Psychology

Learning to sip your pipe was the smartest thing you could have done. And you couldn't have picked better tobaccos to focus on. I'd say try whatever catches your interest. Lots of great suggestions in this thread. Get involved in the boxpass as soon as possible and have no fear if you try...

    Pipe Lighters

I used to use disposable Bics but I broke down last year and bought an Old Boy. I wanted to stop throwing away lighters and I have a thing for well made classical things. I can't recommend them enough. they are a bit on the pricey side, but worth it if you have the dough. Otherwise I would...
