Lane Crown Achievement Review by Romeowood

I enjoy it. Cellaring some, and enjoying it fresh, also. Good stuff, and not that high in price.

    New Jobey Pipes- Any Opinions?

I have a Jobey Fawn, which is a very large sized bowl pipe. Nothing but positive results.

    Cellaring Tobacco You Haven't Smoked

I am developing a bit of A cellar over time. It fits a twofold purpose. One is the entire aging thing for its myriad reasons. The other is that it gives a bit of a reserve for the months I am unable to purchase tobacco for one reason or another. I figure if I just went to what I have on hand...

First Time Double Edge Razor Shaving

I use a Parker. Just use good old Edge shaving cream from the local store. For blades: http://www.amazon.com/Astra-Superior-Premium-Platinum-Double/dp/B001QY8QXM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399590992&sr=8-1&keywords=astra+blades

Tip For Those Running An Online Store

Can't speak for your personal experience, but I can tell you mine regarding the same online vendor. And that is nothing but good. They have done me right every time, and the very occasional mistake they have made has been addressed quickly, and by a phone call they generated when made aware of...

    Balkan Sasieni What to Expect?

I smoked it a lot for about a year, then cellared about 5 tins. After 10-12 months, it mellowed somewhat. A better smoke altogether. I haven't bought any recently, but should I do so, it will be with full intent to cellar it for multiple years, as I am doing with my current stock of it.

Revelation tobacco by Philip Morris , opening a sealed old tin

http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/85-years-do-i-dare I had the honor of smoking about 3 bowls out of this tin. Sublime, to say the least.

    First Dunhill Pipe, Advice Needed

As a side note, I bought a sweet Mitchell Thomas pipe (same folks who make Aldo Velani) several years ago. It eventually developed a hairline crack in the bowl due to a drop. It is a sandblast finish, and the crack is almost invisible, unless you look straight down at the rim and see it from the...

    First Dunhill Pipe, Advice Needed

I would be careful. A crack means stress, and it will NOT get better over time.

EXCLUSIVE: Tobaccos from Missouri Meerschaum & New Tribute to Balkan Sobranie

Sounds like besides Black House I better add Mazatec to my list as well ... thanks portascat! Mazatec is what I would call English Aromatic. Think the Lord of the Rings type blends at Just For Him. Smooth, well blended, nice note, flavorful without being a knockout on the latakia or orientals...

EXCLUSIVE: Tobaccos from Missouri Meerschaum & New Tribute to Balkan Sobranie

Magnum Opus, Beverwyck, Sunjammer, Ambassador and now White Knight have all been great smokes. The only one I still haven't tried that I'd like to is Black House. I am a huge Beverwyck fan. Sunjammer is decent, and I went through an Ambassador phase. Have Sunjammer and Ambassador on long term...

The Stupid Beginner Things We Do

Lightly heat and rotate the end of the stem with a bic lighter. Enough to get it slightly soft. Then push it, straight down, onto a hard stone or steel surface. This will flare the stem end slightly and should tighten the fit. Have done this a couple times on estate pipes. Even had to do so on a...

    Kaywoodie Topped Dunhill in Price

Ed James ^^^^ above cleaned up my 1938 Kaywoodie Bulldog (with carb) a year or so back. I bought it off Ebay for about $15 about 3 years back. Reclocked the stem and cleaned out the carb, myself. IIRC, the pipe itself sold for about 6-7 bucks in the middle of the Depression. Based upon on the...

    That first English... the horror.

Haddos Delight...heh. That stuff will have you stumbling around the house and calling old girlfriends. Got a tin of it that must be 3 years old with no more than 4 bowls out of it. I keep it around and smoke it about one a year in a Savoy.

Complete beginner to smoking. A little overwhelmed.

Lots of good advice, lots more if you randomly browse the forum. My input is to relax and enjoy and learn. Certainly learn from the more experienced smokers, but feel free to learn on your own over time. For example, I initially had a difficult time keeping the pipe lit, and tried to get very...

    Goodie Bags at P&C Gone

Like a few others, I typically place a big order once a month, and then one or two smaller orders through the month. Totaling somewhere in the $75 to $100 per month. I wanted a calendar in early January, and didn't get one due to my order being too small. I contacted them via email and explained...
