    Happy new year for 2012-Artwork

A tiny bit odd but, in all, a very impressive display.

Fun Fact About Andrew Jackson's Wife

If only we could find a photo of the former first lady puffing on some tobacco. It would be a great addition to our Pipe Babes section.

Did you get to smoke your pipes on Christmas?

I snuck away to my office "to feed the fish" and enjoyed a quiet hour of solitude with an old Joby freestyle.

does this pipe look worth 25 bucks?

I'd take the Savinelli in a minute for that price. I can't tell how deep the rim scorching goes, but it may need nothing more than a Q-Tip and a little saliva. If the scorch goes into the wood, I've had very good results with rim-burned estate pipes by sanding the rim with fine grained sandpaper...

    Grandpas Meer.( pics )

A truly remarkable piece. Some Turkish craftsman spent dozens of hours bringing that into the world. A thing to be treasured (and smoked to amber brilliance). Thanks for the posting.

    Alone know what this is?

It's an opium pipe. Merry Christmas from Southeast Asia.

    Love This Dirt

I've never owned or smoked a clay pipe. Can't seem to get past the plaster of paris look.

Did this guy like meers or what?

The man presents a remarkable collection of high quality pipes. Had I both the cash and appropriate display space, I'd seriously consider an opening bid. Alas, I have neither. I do have a wife who would likely have me evaporated if I tried to enter the competition.

Black Christmas (In a good way!)

Peterson is the best represented maker in my rotation. Those Irishmen have never disappointed me. Yours is a classic shape with a glorious finish.

My Collection Has Grown A Little (pic heavy)

I especially like the variety of styles despite keeping with traditional shapes. Well done!

    Dunhill Appraisal?

There's a big antique shop around the corner from my office. You've convinced me to drop by for a visit tomorrow morning. Nicely done!

    She got me this

The Danes are heavily represented in my collection. They love their pipes and it shows in the products they develop. One of my first pipes was a Christmas gift from my wife...40 years ago. I smoked it this morning to celebrate.

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, my friend, to you and to all in the pipe smoking community.

    Briar, Meerschaum, Clay and ????

Me thinks this might be intended for something other than tobacco.

    A Christmas Reminder

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! Clement Clarke Moore (1779 - 1863)  A BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY FELLOW SANTA'S

Is it o.k. to leave half smoked tobacco in the pipe?

I often light up a bowl in the morning and continue smoking it, bit by bit, throughout the day as work breaks come up. Often times the last puff is the sweetest. Do whatever works for you.

It's Not A Gandalf! (mini rant)

I visited my local tobacco shop earlier this week and noticed a display case with several new church wardens. I joked to the proprietor that it appears he's trying to attract the hobbit demographic. He told me that he'd brought the pipes in at the request of several adult LoTR fans who had never...

Piper Ramblings & a Passing Question

Great post! I believe the time and effort it takes to develop the skill of pipe smoking is the greatest hinderance to those who avoid the pipe and the greatest attraction to those of us who continue to enjoy it.
