    Growing up near lake Erie I do recall that sound every spring when the ice started melting. It sounds like someone breaking a thousand tractor trailer loads of glass continuously for a week. It's a cool sound actually to just zone out on at night while smoking.

    I, on the contrary, love that charring wood taste from a new pipe. It's a sort of sweet spicy campfire taste that reminds me of when I go to pic up a new toasted oak barrel for wine making.

    Empty Tins...

    Yeah you can use some here and there for what you would use any container for: hold a small amount of screws, some fishing tackle, other smokeable items...etc. But for the most part, I just keep them in a bucket and when it gets full I bring them to the steel yard. I do peel my labels off...
