    Best Conceal Carry Holster

You won't be able to carry something the size of the XD9 without a belt. At least not safely.A good belt keeping everything in place is necessary. I carry an XD9SC daily and it's even to heavy to do without a belt. I use High Noon holsters, almost exclusively. A couple of Don Hume belt slides...

    Pipe Bowl Gets Hot

I have the same Mr Brog pipe. The pear wood does seem burn a bit warmer than my other, briar, pipes. It's never been hot, well not since I learned to smoke it properly, but a little warm seems standard. For me.

    Next Level Pipe

I have two pipes that I bought new and both are great. One is a Savinelli Oscar, which is a bit above your desired range, but the other is a Nording Gold Series. $60 at CupOJoes. Well worth the money.

Obama Budget Attacks Tobacco ... Again

What we need is the non big cig tobacco guys to stand together. There is a cigar lobby, a pipe lobby, a smokeless lobby, a RYO lobby, all of which are to small to matter, and the politicians like us divided. (Ok, the cigar guys have buttloads of money to toss around ad a lot of richy richs and...

    Your "Go-To" Blends

I'm pretty new to pipes, only a few years in, but I have 3 or 4 blends that I try to keep always on hand. Outside of that I also try to add new tobaccos in my preferred styles to any order. Just to see if it's something I like more than my current favorites or just as a break from the usual. I...

What Are You Smoking? April 2013

MacB's Symphony in a Italian bent pot.

    Pipe Preference

I have the whole spectrum, except an Oompaul, but it seems all my favorite smokers are 1/4 bent.

    Time to Mega PAD

This was obviously coming when they passed the PACT act...forcing cigarette and smokeless shops to charge local sales tax and ship private carrier. A few of us in the smokeless community tried to sound the clarion call...but were mostly shrugged off and/or ignored. States are spending so far...

    $50 Pipe vs. $1000 Pipe

To me pipes are like cars. A used Honda can take you the same places a new Corvette will. A $75 pipe can smoke as well as a $5,000 pipe will. You just pay more for more refined engineering and appearance. A '88 Ford will mostly get you to work, but it takes knowledge and luck to get a good one...

    Tobacco B&M prices

We have an abundance of decent B&M's here. Some are better than others in the price department.I don't mind a bit of mark-up, I'm offended when the mark-up is in the 100% range, more so when it's blamed on taxes. I know exactly what the taxes are in my state. Don't BS me. The shop I buy most...

    Peterson & MacBaren Recommendations

MacBaren Symphony and Scottish Mixture Flake are two I keep in stock. All of the HH series are good. I've tried only Irish Flake from Peterson is was pretty good. I need to revisit it now that I understand flakes a bit more.

Pipe Show at Smoker's Haven in Columbus, OH

I did. I need your address again so I can raid your stash. lol It was pretty good. I still have half of that sample to try later this week.

Pipe Show at Smoker's Haven in Columbus, OH

There was a lot of awesome pipes and people there. It's great to actually meet the guys who make the pipes. Even better to sit/stand around with a bunch of new friends just smoking and BS ing. Can't hardly wait for the next show.

    Wow! Good Pipes Are Good.

Thank you all. I started this thread to talk about how much better my inexpensive pipes smoke as opposed to my cheap pipes. The resulting discussion has been very informative. At this point in my pipe smoking career I can say from experience I am much more likely to get a decent pipe by...

    Wow! Good Pipes Are Good.

I found a couple Ardors at the Tinderbox that got my attention. Not in the budget right now, but one day things will improve, or I'll get lucky on ebay. This has been a good month. I went from no good pipes to 6. I'll try to get my kid to use her fancy camera and take a group shot or two once...

    Wow! Good Pipes Are Good.

Update; The guys at Smokers Haven, okay Bill, found my pipe. It was hiding right in front of us in the big case. Somehow 5 of us missed it. Can't afford to pick it up for a couple weeks, but it's now in a safe place. I'm so giddy I could pop.

    Navy Flake!

All the Virginia and Virginia dominant blends I smoke are flakes. The only non flakes I have in the house are Latakia blends. Well I do have a couple ounces of PS Golden Dansk around here somewhere, but that's the exception and my only "aro". Not a fan of rum in my tobacco so a lot of Navy...

    Do You Haggle With Carvers?

I love to haggle. I'd haggle over the price of bread at the supermarket if I thought it would work. BUT I only haggle on stuff I know the value of. A carvers pipe? I have a vague idea what goes into making a fine pipe, but I have no real idea how to put a dollar amount on it. So while I may try...

    International Pipe Smoking Day 2013

I'm off today, and I have a couple pipes still being broke in. Sounds like a 5-6 bowl day. PS English Oriental and MacBaren Mixture , maybe a bowl of Symphony to round it out.

    NASCAR

Big fan here. I just switched cable companies to get another DVR so I can record the races I'll miss this year due to work. I didn't have to switch but I got a better deal. Anyway Daytona is my "superbowl". I spend the afternoon sitting on the couch and staring at the TV. I go the the...
