Monday Night Fights: Orlik Golden Sliced vs Erinmore Flake
It's Tuesday morning but I'll chime in anyway. I'd go with EF. Especially if I can count the 2 tins of Murrays production I found a couple years ago. Plus, I like the tin art better. OGS is well, not bland, but not enough unique flavor to stand out in the crowd.- bigmick

What Did You Start With?
My first pipe experience was with a mini corn cob and some corn silk when I was about 10. Almost burned my tongue off. English Recommendations?
SG Skiff Mixture is a nice medium blend. As is Balkan Flake. I'm also a fan of PS's Proper English and English Oriental. My favorite latakia blend is C&D Pirate Kake. It is not an all the time blend for me, but a nice treat a couple times a month. Since the females in the house won't let me...- bigmick

SG Balkan Flake equivalent
One thing I've learned tobacco names can be misleading. SG calls it Balkan Flake. MacBaren calls one Latakia Blend. Great tobacco, no Lat that I, or many others going by reviews, can find. Plus didn't I read, on here somewhere, that Latakia is a Oriental ?- bigmick

Wow! Good Pipes Are Good.
Yeah, my first briar was a Weber, stinger and all, bulldog, rusticated. Caused me all kinds of grief and pain. Wouldn't part with it for nothing. I get it to smoke fine about once every 3 bowls. The rest is an exercise in frustration, but I love that darn thing. I'll master it one day. -

SG Balkan Flake equivalent
Yeah, $60+ a lb is out of my price range. $30 ish PS tobacco is more my speed. I haven't tried many Altadis brands, but all the ones I've had access to are aros and those aren't my style. I've found one aro I like enough to buy a second time. PS Golden Dansk.- bigmick

Roth, I am in SH 3-4 times a month. My budget(director) won't let me go more often. The guys have been very nice to a guy who only spends @$30 twice a month or so. They do have tons of pipes and I drool every visit. Good idea about getting Premal to bird dog one for me.... -

Going Back to Wet Shave/Safety Razor

Smokers Haven is the shop that lost my pipe. Also the shop where the guys have been very patient with my outspoken self, and bent over backwards taking care of me after it was apparent my pipe was missing. I know every pipe/cigar shop in town and Smokers Haven gets most of my limited money... -
