How I Started Smoking.... And You?

During second year of college, 1978, my floor had a "resident assistant" who smoked a pipe. Up until that time the only pipe smoker I knew was my grandfather. I could smell the pipe smoke everytime I got off the elevator to go to my room and one day I decided curiosity was going to get the...

    What's your favorite cartoon?

Tom and Jerry. They still make me laugh. :D

    Buffalo Calf Woman

I've always liked the Sioux story about how they received the most sacred of their religious objects. I have not always tried to smoke with enough contemplation and attention, but I've had a few of those indescribable moments with a pipe. I have either washed away a day's worth of stress...

Scratch spear fishing from my list

I'm wondering at what angle did that guy's butt look like a fish?

    Ben Wade Pipe, worth it?

I agree with everyone else, it was a good buy! I wouldn't worry about the lose tenon. It may have been months or years since it was smoked last and likely dried out over time. Getting someone to love it and use it again would be the best fix and likely all it needs. Besides, the aren't makin'...

My First Freehand ... and a question

The Monte Verdi line always featured that deep blast. The tactile experience while holding it is second to none. Mine are all drilled perfectly, too. It should be a nice pipe! 8)

    Bishop's Move

Keep smoking it! Its a fantastic blend, one of Uhle's best. I might suggest smoking it fairly steady over the course of several days, then take a long break from it. At least a week or more, then return to it and see what you experience. I've done this to other blends I couldn't get a handle...

Can't use credit cards to buy loose tobacco online?

This is being talked about on other forums as others receive the same email. I've never been able to have a relationship with Just For Him. They won't ship to Iowa, despite the lack of any law forbidding buying pipe tobacco out of state. As near as I can understand, out of state cigerette...

    Hobby vs. Habit: Pipe Smoking

We had a similar discussion last summer: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/hobby-versus-addiction#post-250207 Personally, I gave up pipes for 15 years while my daughters were small. It was easy to quit. I missed it, but more for the comfort of the taste of favorite blends than N...

    McClelland's Royal Cajun Special

I think these Cajun blends might be the richest tasting blends I smoke. Nicely sweet, a little smokey, creamy and smooth. :puffpipe:

My smoking spot for the past week

Looks fantastic! I love smoking when I don't have anything to do or think about...those moments are all too rare.

    Savinelli "Tundra" Line

It took me several searches (my Google fu is weak) but it appears the Tundra 320 line is out of stock everywhere? I don't find any in stock in the usual places, but found one here, http://www.tastytobaccoshop.com/Savinelli_Tundra_EX_p/2659-320ex.htm Its a little higher priced than I used to see...

    Savinelli "Tundra" Line

I have a 320ex and its a nice pipe. The 320 shape is about my favorite Sav style. The cumberland stem makes a nice contrast to the darkish stain of the briar. Like all Savs, its a good smoker with a variety of tobaccos. I hope you get one someday! 8)

    Chess, anyone?

I love to play and don't pretend to be any good at it, but I love the game. Like my pipe smoking passion, I'm the only one I know that likes to play. I started a chess club in high school during the chess crazy days of the Fischer heyday. I remember lots of guys learning to play, but once...

Would You Get This Pipe Repaired?

It might be a lovely smoker judging by the amount of wear it has received. I tend to repair out of sentimental reasons anyway. I never figure the economics of it.

    College Days & Pipe Smoking

Me too, late '70s in a pretentious attempt to look older, wiser, and sexier than I really was. :laughat:

    Pipe positioning?

Dang. :? I must have a super-over-achieving gag reflex, because if it gets very far back it gets embarrassing. I'm a holder and for that reason almost never put if very far in my mouth. Chopz has in interesting technique.
