Bowl shape for flakes or medallions

Hi all, I'm starting to branch out into flake/medallion tobaccos (instead of ribbon cut) and was wondering about pipe bowls. Are there any particular shapes that would be more "effective" than others? I saw a guy on Youtube suggest a tapered bowl, but I was wondering if anyone had a second...

    How tight is too tight?

Hi all, I'm starting to cellar some of my tobacco and I need some advice. When packing the jars, how tight should I fill them. Should I let the tobacco sit somewhat loose, or is keeping everything somewhat squeezed in alright? Thanks.

    Special Permit

Potpourri?.....well played. Outlaw potpourri collector fighting the man. That's awesome.

    Special Permit

Marijuana is still illegal in Canada (Except for legit medical reasons). But if it ever does get legalized, it'll probably be taxed less than pipe tobacco. Lucky Hippies.

    Special Permit

It's bizarre. I can set up a home brewery/winery and produce um-teen litres of alcohol, but a few quality unopened tins can get me nailed. "I'm just holding it for a friend man, really..." Oh well, nothing like a dodgy hobby.

    Special Permit

I just found this last night. Learned the hard way

Great stories all. Nothing like learning from the lessons/experiences of others. I now truly stand on the shoulders of masters. Thanks TopD: I will now never smoke a meerschaum in a windstorm with a cold pint. Synthetic clothing is now out of my pipe smoking wardrobe as well. Good times.

    Learned the hard way

Hi all, What are some of the pipe smoking lessons you've learned the hard way? This morning mine was walking outside in windy weather and have a strong gust blow hot ash and tobacco into my face. Lesson learned? - Pipe safety goggles in high winds needed. Anybody else? Edit: Moved to Pipe...

    Where is the flavor?

Thanks again for all the helpful replies guys. Light puffs are already a huge improvement. Trying to co-ordinate retro-haling is a bit more challenging, but practice makes perfect. I'm smoking a $30 Capri pipe that the tobacco guy gave me. I got pretty lucky (for a Canuck) and got a good...

    Where is the flavor?

    Where is the flavor?

Hi all. I've just started smoking pipes a few weeks ago and so far mostly everything, thanks to YouTube and forum lurking, is going fine. However, my problem is this: Every once in a while I get a pretty good draw and my mouth is full of flavor, but I can't seem to keep it consistent. What am...
