Jar is too big for tobacco

I remember my father and grandfather being pipe smokers and they both kept their tobacco in a jar in the den/parlor with a lid that wasn't very tight. This was never a problem for them. When I started smoking a pipe in the early 60's I never thought about how to store my tobacco. Looking back...

    Grain Under Solid Stain

Human curiosity being what it is I think most of us wonder from yime to time what might lie below the finish. I would guess the manufacturer chose the finish based on the briar so I for one will pass on a voyage of discovery,

Buffing/Polishing Compounds to Use with Buffing Machine?

Stems look really good. Because of the summer heat here in Georgia I setup my buffer in our spare bedroom using a cardboard box lined with foam. Works very well with a small comport fan to exhaust through a filter.

Jar is too big for tobacco

Packing tightly in a mason jar is perfect for long term storage of bulk tobacco but what your going to use on a regular basis only needs a covered container stored out of direct sunlight.

    Charred bowl?

Dawn dish detergent and extra firm toothbrush. Have used a cork to keep the detergent from getting inside the bowl.

Buffing/Polishing Compounds to Use with Buffing Machine?

Tried restoring stems using just a buffing wheel but were just not happy with the results. Now use Oxi-Clean, fine grit sanding sticks from Sally's Beauty Supply then white diamond wheel and finish with Obsidian oil. Many ways to get the job done but this is a process that works for me. This is...

Not Cleaning the Pipe as Thoroughly

Pipe cleaners are cheap when used with a little whiskey. Many years as a cabinet maker and pipe smoker have taught me that water and wood do not play well together. Yay being said, do what works for you and be willing to accept the consequences...
