Tenon Funnel or Flush Beat Down

This is great, fun reading, and thought provoking. Provoking the thought: wouldn’t this make the (beloved?) Falcon an engineering marvel? Straight shot from the center of a briar bowl to the mouthpiece... hummmm...puffy

Removing the Stem of a Warm Pipe

I have a slightly different thought on the warm/hot pipes and the mortise/stem connection. I believe the swelling is more from the moisture (steam) generated from the tobacco smoke (a natural byproduct of combustion), combined with the heat. I generally don't pull stems on warm/hot pipes...

Okay To Use a Filter Pipe Without a Filter?

I’ve purchased most of my pipes based on size and looks, and have a few that are filtered. I remove them immediately (the filters). They smoke fine to me, no inserts, etc. BUT, I might just be a Luddite... (happy and satisfied with my smokes Luddite maybe?...?)

    ArmyMount Pipes And Their Origin

Fair enough. I should have added - I have mostly (but not always) adopted the "hot water rinse" lately (when available), so I have a bit more moisture to deal with. I still do this on regular stems, but wait until dry to reassemble...

Do You Still Have Your First Pipe?

No, but no great loss financially or emotionally. A straight, rusticated Dr. Grabow Lark from the corner drug store!

    ArmyMount Pipes And Their Origin

I'm a fan, and mostly for function. Quick breakdown after a smoke, clean it up, and back on the rack. No waiting for it to cool, or worrying about the tenon/mortise swell. They pack & travel well broken down. No fuss stem removal mid-smoke on the bents (especially system pipes) to run a pipe...

    Smart Phones

“Land lines”, by definition are hard wired communications. Interestingly, electric power is also hard wired. Here In New England, when power goes out, so does the land line. Mostly from trees taking out lines. Cell service is more reliable now in the 21st Century, and I’m happy to have the...

    So When the Dust Settles

I’m admittedly a “new” member here. Posting pix is easy! I found posting pix in a pm is impossible...or at least very cumbersome. Not a complaint, just an observation...
