A Place To Talk Pipes !

Agreed, although it's relative. Before I found this site, I had a small bag of McClelland Burley and a pouch of Plumcake. Now I took part in the box pass, and I've got a whole set of mason jars with (admittedly small) amounts of about ten blends and I'm constantly fighting the urge to buy more...

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

1Q in my blonde Brigham bent bulldog. Say that ten times fast. Simon Edit: That - That - That - That - That - That - That - That - That - That... Whew! That was difficult. :D Sorry couldn't help myself.

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

CAO Eileen's Dream in my Stanwell HCA churchwarden. My wife had a few token puffs "just to help keep it lit" while I was getting a sweater to help celebrate Mother's Day. Simon

    First Smoke

Out of the blue I started researching pipes on the Internet years ago, BPM*. Did what I could to learn about it and then visited one of the three B&M's in town and kitted myself out with a low-end Brigham, 25g of a bulk McClelland burley, a tamper, some wooden matches and pipe cleaners. Can't...

    It's all easy......in my head.

I've got a box that could hold two pipes like that. I didn't think of carving foam. Nice work! Simon

May, 2011 - What are you smoking?

Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian in my Brigham apple. First bowl of this for me. Not sure what to make of it yet. It's certainly... robust. Simon

Two Guys Walk Into A Pipe Shop

I wish I could hang around at a B & M, but one thing would tad to another, and with Canadian prices on everything... I'd be in real trouble. Simon

If I had money to burn.

8O $1400 could buy every pipe I have (including the 3- and 4-pin estates if they were new), plus all the tobacco I have ever bought. But you're right, those are nice looking pipes. I'd just have to be pretty rich not to feel the pinch. Simon

    Looking for a pipe stand

eBay. Seach for "pipe rack" or just "rack" under the category Collectables > Tobbaciana. I got the 4-pipe rack and glass tobacco jar pictured here (http://pipesmagazine.com/members/classicgeek/album/picture/899) for $5 and that included two Dr. Grabow pipes as well. I sanded it and stained it...

    Looking for flake suggestions

What Cortez said. Flakes are interesting, I'll give them that. There's a certain something about the process of rubbing them out. It adds another step of enjoyment of the tobacco, I think. Simon

    my son

I think there is only one real answer to that: spend some time together and sample each other's favorites. He may have some of his own opinions on what is good and nothing encourages someone else to listen like being a good listener yourself. All the best on the reconciliation. Simon

    In Regards to Tattoos

@marmal4de: Ouch. I've just had the nice meaty shoulder done, and that was painful enough. Love the story on the chili pepper. Today: pipe = old man. Wonder if the same connection will be made with tattoos when we're older? I know that tattoo = old sailor when I was a boy. Fashions come and...
