    New Ruthenberg Comissioned

I like the look of it a lot! I'd like to commission a pipe someday. It would be nice to have one like no other would have. Enjoy yours!

    My BEST smoking pipe

I'm always throwing a new pipe into the rotation but if I want a sure bet on a good smoke I'll choose one of my Medico Jets. They feel great and smoke wonderfully. So much so that every time I see one on ebay I'll make a go at it because I know it'll be a winner.

To The Very Kind Soul . . .

Let that pipe be a source of renewal when your spirits are down. It's a beautiful thing.

    Help Identifying Pipe Manufacturer

I've been working on my new Comoy's find from ebay and was thinking the same thing. From Pipedia: (Thanks Pruss, for the link)

    Shingles

I appreciate the warnings. I shelled out the $180.00 cost for the vaccine for my wife, but my employer will give it to me free after my 60th birthday next year. Now I don't know if I want to wait.

    Royal Duke of Dundee

I can't find any evidence that bowl has been topped. I have a couple estates which have and the rim either has saw marks or is slightly uneven. This pipe seems to be a squat pot by design. It's a good smoker, but because of its small size it has to be puffed gently. I use it for aromatic blends...

    Royal Duke of Dundee

@newbroom, it weighs in at 1oz. Almost forget I have it clenched sometimes :-) Here's a shot of the carb hole. They could have least gold plated it or something....

    Royal Duke of Dundee

It's turned out to be a nice little pipe. I have since found this ad for Duke of Dundee pipes in a 1938 Pittsburgh Press ad: I love reading these old newspapers. Here the link if anyone is interested: 1938 Pittsburgh Press

Medico V.F.Q. Estate Pipe - Nice Little Find

Very nice find! How did I miss that one? :D

    Restoration Advice

The tar comes off with generous amounts of spit on a cotton pad. I use acetone and cotton pads to remove varnish, if that's what that clear coat is. You may need to also use a toothbrush if that rustication is deep. After that it's just a matter of buffing and waxing. But don't do anything...

    Best Balkan to Start With

I've only tried WhiteKnight, PS Balakan Supreme and Balkan Luxury Blend 957. WhiteKnight is my favorite but Balkan Supreme I can afford by the pound. Balkan Luxury Blend 957 is the last one I've tried and it rates third for me. Now I'm interested in trying Black House after reading these...

    Pipe problems!

I think you would come into significant trouble if you tried to smoke that pipe. You can see daylight through the bottom of the "bowl"! I wonder if it was even intended to be smoked in the first place. Maybe just put it on the shelf as the first of your collection :-)

Show Off Your Kaywoodie Pipes Here!

I have a Super Grain Hand Made (with sock and box) and a Flame Grain, both of which are in line for restoration. The beautiful pipes in this thread are giving some inspiration and motivation to get out to the shop and dig in!

    Your Advice, please

I would do it. Forgiveness and acts of kindness are things that can't be over done. When I go, I would want it to be without grudges or any ill feelings towards anybody. Giving John a chance at that is a wonderful thing and probably increases the square footage of your mansion in heaven too...

What is your definition of Heavy Pipe Smoking

I'm a weekend puffer. I have to have the time to enjoy my pipes and I just don't get that on the days I work.

    Finally Got A Tablet

I'm definitely an Android/Windows guy, but I won an iPad 2 in an online contest. I was a little perturbed with it since it wouldn't talk to my network without downloading paid apps. I would think a $600.00 tablet should be good for something right out the box other than connecting to iTunes. I...

    Must Proofread My Posts

Yep, the edit button is also my friend. One problem I have is my poor vision which makes missing typos common. The other problem is that I'm writing about stuff I'm still new at and therefor make frequent errors of ignorance. But if I knew everything about pipes I probably wouldn't be here. Oh...

    Dracula 999 Before And After

Nice! If Peterson ever offered a choice I'd go with the blasted.
