    Estate Pipes- First purchase

Hello all, Obviously one can get a good deal on a popular brand by buying an estate. I'm thinking of purchasing one and was curious what to look for. Is there a particular brand that makes a better first estate pipe? Or like a brand new pipe is it just whatever piques my interest and...

Brands and Shapes-Why Do You Like Them?

Those catch my eye, along will bulldogs, princes, authors and some tomatoes. Still waiting to take the Sav for a spin.

    Appreciating the Classics

SWR is on the short list for sure. Sopped at a B&M that I somehow missed and picked up some baby's bottom, kind of bummed i didn't know about it before I moved, awesome place. Waiting for my other additions to arrive Monday. Still unsure what to smoke for the maiden voyage of my Sav.

    Appreciating the Classics

I apparently wasn't done as I went back and got some Frog Morton and FM On the Town as well as Escudo. Another cob for good measure.

    Appreciating the Classics

Folanator I appreciate the advice. I intend to explore all genres, but right now with what limited knowledge I have I'm really just feeling my way along. I look up reviews and compare and use descriptions and if the description is appealing I go with it. I also came from smoking cigars and...

Brands and Shapes-Why Do You Like Them?

Gents, solid input all around. Makes me happy I went with a Sav for my first premium pipe, as it were. It's a 106 Oceano to be exact. This is poetic right here. I dig it. Cosmic, the history of it isn't a bad consideration either. I'd be interested to learn more about IDing older pipes and what...

    Appreciating the Classics

Well gents, after reading suggestions and just reading posts in general and getting TAD, I placed an order. What I ordered: tin of Black House tin of Edward G Robinson 1 oz Old Joe Krantz 1 oz mixture 965 and because I wanted to try it and it's that time of year a tin of Peterson's St...

Brands and Shapes-Why Do You Like Them?

Hey all, Just wondering what brands and shapes people like and why. Does it help enhance flavor? Is the smoke cooler as a result of shape? Again, relatively new, but for instance is there much that separates Savinelli, Peterson and Stanwell? I mention these three because they seem to be...

Peterson's Connemara Black and B&M "Mutty"

Ha.... Probably because it's Peterson's, not Patterson's. I suppose that's what I get for posting from my phone.

    Appreciating the Classics

Cosmic, smoked it out of a fresh MM. Definitely got the tobacco taste and just a touch of the sweetness. I'm assuming if I were to continue to smoke out of the same pipe I'd get a better sense of the taste. But I can definitely see it going well with sweet tea.

    Appreciating the Classics

Thank you all for your input thus far it's greatly appreciated. That was one of the things I was pondering. SWR, like Budweiser, must be doing something right if it's been around awhile and people stand by it. Budweiser/SWR would be like a "rite of passage" type beer/tobacco.

    Appreciating the Classics

I'll go with the tins. I paused for a minute while pondering a response, but I'll compare it to beer, at least my experience. Although the likes of Budweiser and Coors light served me well from my late teens to early 20s, nowadays I much prefer a Dogfish Head or Great Lakes, etc.

    Appreciating the Classics

So I'm relatively new to pipe smoking, I've mostly tried some B&M blends, but picked up a tin of Plumcake and Erinmore flake. The Plumcake is good, haven't yet tried the Erinmore yet. But I would like to explore classic examples of traditional genres/varieties. So any favorites and suggestions...

Peterson's Connemara Black and B&M "Mutty"

Hey guys, Picked up some Connemara black and only smoked two bowls so far. First one was meh, second one seemed a bit better. The cherry for me isn't over powering. But I've been enjoying a B&M blend that's black cav and cut cake Burley and it's quite good. I was thinking of adding a bit of...
