    Stanwell Royal Briar 88

That was also my thinking. I was thinking the bowl of the pipe and it's design/functionality would be more important than the stem itself. It might be mismatched and look off, but the function of the pipe as a whole wouldn't be affected. But maybe that's wrong ?

    Stanwell Royal Briar 88

This one, the bowl looks in pretty solid shape. The description says 1970s-1990s, in the pictures only markings I see are Stanwell, below it Royal Briar and on the opposite side it has the 88 on it.

    Stanwell Royal Briar 88

I was looking on Ebay and found a Stanwell Royal Briar 88 with a replacement stem. Looks like it was either lightly smoked or already cleaned up. But tbh, I'm still a newcomer to pipes and was curious what anyone knows about this line of pipes. I'd be interested what the original cost was and...

    Estate Pipes- First purchase

As I was typing that I was thinking the same. If the thickness would help keep it cool (?) since heat is produced wouldn't it just retain heat more so?

    LaCroix Pipes

Well, I took a shot and bought it. I think there were 4 total when I looked earlier and when I looked recently there was only one so I grabbed it.

    Estate Pipes- First purchase

So far I smoke a little of everything, trying to figure out what I do/don't like. So far hasn't been much I don't like. I tend to smoke mostly while driving, so most of the time clenching, but I do enjoy holding it while I can. Less than $100. I like the looks of Billiards, Dublins, Pots...

Newbie with McClelland.... Smoke Now, Stow Away or Both?

I think all of it I'm going to jar and then sip on. FMotT and Contest Blend obviously I have a little more leeway with. Because I've never even had any of these before I believe I'm putting an extra emphasis on the unavailability aspect. Plus development of my palette and being able to compare...

Newbie with McClelland.... Smoke Now, Stow Away or Both?

Everything is a 50g tin except FMotT which is 100g. My sister ended up getting a second tin of contest blend and a tin of Bombay extra to add to the cause.
