    South for the Mouth

Ever ate at a Michelin star place? That's what I call "refined", but still can not be everyone's preference or the epitomy of "refined". That's not to bodge any of the skills of any other chef which is not making "refined" food by anyones definition and I might take my words back when I eat...

    South for the Mouth

No, but that sounds delicious. I'm not only comparing american cuisine to fastfood, but I generally compare it to comfort food like barbecue.

***What are You Smoking, March 2022?***

    South for the Mouth

Hmmmm American cuisine may not be refined, but it sounds delish. Just one question: how can you prefer, as a Texan, fried chicken above brisket or even better slow cooked chuck? Your living in a state with 10 times more cows than humans....

Maybe @Said.ALTINAY can weigh in on this.

    Block Quality

This has I think about 75 smokes. Its hard to see on the photo, but the parts that look white are actually a bit more beige. I hope it will in due time it will color like the heel of the shank is now. I think coloring is a nice side effect, I would just suggest do with it what it's made for...

Do You Prefer to Buy Unsmoked or Pre-Smoked Pipes?

In my less than 1 year journey I have bought some new and some estates. If a pipe has the right bowl size for what I intend to smoke in it and looks attract my attention I don't care if its a new or estate one. For pipes I have been on a made-to-order/artisinal shopping spree and that might be...

    New Commission

Very nice pipe, nothing to hate about!

    Tobacco Bombed

Dunno if the title in present times it appropriate, but I'm still going to use this term for a very generous gift I received. The generosity of the people on this forum can not be measured or explained in words!

***What are You Smoking, March 2022?***

Pipe of today with OGS on a beautifull almost spring like day.

    Overlighting

When I watch into the pipe when puffing or blow inside the bowl I almost always get or a dead centre ember or a little bit of the sides one, never I see the whole bowl light up. Relights are there to relight, not to incinerate. Like I do with cigars I light my lighter move it towards the bowl...

How Many Bowls In a Tin?

Ribbon or ready rubbed in my largest pipe I pack about 4 grams, so a tin of 100 grams would last about 25 bowls. For flakes I like smaller pipes that hold about 3/4 to 1 flake, I have no idea how much flakes are in tin, but I think it's about 2 grams a pipe. A tin could last about 6 months...

    Apology to Forum Members

I found it quite entertaining actualy, your a curmudgeon version of BROBS.

    The Easy Pass Test

I honestly never gave it any thought. The case I use a pipe cleaner while smoking when I either get some moisture with the smoke or a gurgle. A pipe cleaner that doesn't pass does the trick for me. I pull apart a pipe after smoking and cooling anyway. But I can understand it could be a form of...

*** What Are You Drinking? *** February 2022

Normally not a fan of Geuze/Lambic/Sour beer, but this one was actually nice and even tasted like a black forest pie.

Solani 656 Aged Burley Flake: Myth or Legend?

I agree with the premise it seems a bit short sighted to state "its burley, it won't age". A few months ago I asked a question What to Cellar for Improvement?. Now the question on cellaring changed from what to age to what do you want to smoke in the long run and got because of the question...
