    US Based Pipe Repairman?

I believe Ric sold the business to another guy and that guy did a great job making a replacement acrylic stem for me on an old Caminetto Moustache brandy bowl.

    Estate Pipe

I have 33 pipes. They all have acrylic stem. No worry about cleaning the exterior. Acrylic stems are like IPA beers: people love them or hate them. I’m in the former group.

Best City for a Pipe Smoker

Yeah, just ask the Cuban refugees what a paradise it was.

What Kind of Pipes do you Like and Why?

I currently have 33 pipes in my collection. I’ve owned hundreds in 50 years of pipe smoking. My favorites now are: 1) Caminetto Moustache grade (10 pipes) 1 a) Brebbia Linea A only (6 pipes) 1 c) Older GBDs, Perspex stems only (5) Side note: the Perspex stem is the best ever made.

    Samplers

I agree. Boswell assembles nice sampler packages according to tobacco styles.

    Thank You, Community

Welcome to the Forum and thanks for your post. I don’t post much, but I wanted to extend best wishes to you and prayers for your father. The absolute, unequivocal best way to meet other pipe smokers is by attending a pipe show.

    Local Tobacco Shop

I buy almost all my tobacco from local shops. But I’m fortunate enough to live in northern Virginia which has some fine places: Old Virginia Tobacco Company, Leesburg Pipe and Cigar, and John B. Hayes. I also travel to Chicago, near Arlington Pipe and Cigar, and Myrtle Beach, home to Low...

    Broken Pipe - Mike Lancaster

I had forgotten about him until I read this post and then he instantly came to mind. He made great YouTube pipe videos way back when.

    Which Pipe Brands to Avoid?

I focus on what I like, Italian mainstream houses. I can’t say I dislike any others because I haven’t tried them. Except a couple Dunhills which smoked great, but I can’t take vulcanite stems.

    How Many Different Tobaccos Stored?

I’d guess I’d qualify as a seasoned pipe smoker (50+ years) and have 231 tins stored. My wife has instructions on disposal of them on my, hopefully not soon, demise.

    In-house Pipes from Iconic Shops

I believe that place was Cellini, which was originally on Franklin Street in downtown Chicago before the move to Skokie. Their pipes were cheap but functional. About $10-20 in the 70s when I used to go there. There were plain stummels, no sandblasts or stain, and no competition to Iwan Ries...

Burley Blends for Those Who Dislike Burley

If you dislike burley, why would you look for one to try? I dislike pancakes; so why would I try pancakes at Waffle House, IHOP, and Denny‘s to find one I don’t dislike as much? I am a long time pipe smoker and cannot handle the nicotine in burleys. I will stick with Virginias and...

Who Are The Real Tobacco Snobs?

I gotta add my view: what the hell do I care what anyone besides my wife and I pay for anything? If demand drives up prices, well, that’s basic economics. Markets bring buyers and sellers together to agree to a price and THAT IS WHAT IT IS WORTH. I can sit on my dead ass and say X isn’t...
