What's Your Favorite Drink While Smoking Your Pipe?

One more vote for tea. Yesterday I had a bowl of MM 965 and a cup of a nice Darjeeling and the flavours of each multiplied each other.

What Are Your Favorite Christmas Albums/Songs?

Every year I listen to this nice traditional carol arranged by a great folk band. I think they used it in the sountrack of Martin Sheen's The Way.

    Samarra - A Fable

But on a more serious note, it is worth being aware of our own mortality; it helps to ask yourself what a good life looks like. Personally, my own beliefs help me see it as simply the threshold into something else, better and more. As far as pipes are concerned, good old Bach once wrote a song...

    Samarra - A Fable

Actually, W. Somerset Maugham got it wrong: Death did give the guy a warning that morning, and the guy went in despair to his local pub. The publican asked what was wrong, and the man said "Death has just told me that he's got an appointment with me tonight at 11 sharp at my place". Then, the...

    Loose Stem

Not so sure; you just wait until I get the hang of packing latakia in the drone. But seriously: we use hemp or flax to make the different pieces fit tighter. It also works for things such as wine taps and plugs in casks, so it may work for pipe stems. On the other hand, it may get stuck with...

    Loose Stem

A bagpiper's two cents here: has anyone tried winding a couple of strands of hemp around the stem?

    Tea And Pipes

Has anyone tried pairing smoking and rooibos? I recently saw it recommended for cigars, but I haven't been able to try it, as I can't get to my favorite tea shop due to the covid lockdown.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

And do you get much crossover between different tobaccos of the same genre? Say, if I keep smoking SJF and then switch to Telegraph Hill, how much will the fifth bowl of TH be different from the first?

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

In this case I'm pretty positive, although that has happened to me with foods and drinks.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

I'm intrigued about the third bowl now.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

In this case, it added more richness to OG. Halfway through the bowl it became really figgy/chocolaty.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

Yes, I do that and scrub the mortise and the stem, but I'm thinking of the coffee grounds when changing blends (unless I want a mixed smoke)

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

So using Ky as a re-setting tobacco could be a solution here, I guess.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

Sure, it was a nice smoke, sort of like SJF with some edge taken off it, but I would also like to change blends withoug having to go through too many bowls.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

Not sure if it would even count as "ghosting", as it clearly went down, but it did surprise me (not a single shred of SJF and I was getting that [I guess] perique taste).

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

Yes, it went down but it is still noticeable. Seems reasonable it will be gone with a few more then.

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

That was also my expectation, but I did get like a 70-25 mixture in the first Old Gowrie bowl and 50-50 in the second (and I clean them after every smoke)

    Crossover Smokes When Changing Blends

EDIT : Fixed Capitalization in Title ( See Rule 9 ) Hi there. Newbie question here. Context: last week, I had a bowl of SG's St. James Flake. After that, I've had 2 bowls of Old Gowrie in the same pipe (a MM Mark Twain cob), and about half of the flavours I am getting are those of St. James...

    Churchwardens

I have seen them on sale with two interchangeable stems (one regular, one long). Does anyone have one of these? Any differences in the smoking experience?

    Best Pipe/Drink Combo.

I once heard a tobacconist recommending a square of high-cocoa chocolate when a cigar is/turns bitter, and the combination is really rich and hedonistic, although it changes the tobacco nuances quite a bit.
