I make mine pretty spot on to yours, but instead of the balsamic vinegar I use a few splashes of dry red wine........... It seems to give the dish a "richness" for lack of a better word..........- beefeater33

Blend Consistency Question
Where I grew up in Broadway Ohio, there were a lot of wild blackberry bushes. Leon was the town simpleton, but boy, he could pick them blackberries. What Is Your Favorite Season… ???☃️
Fall for me. I'm in Ohio and the summers are hot and humid. I haven't had a pipe in a month or so, but do enjoy a good cigar about every evening. I agree with the OP- What I call 'Flannel Shirt" weather is when I'll return to the pipes, and probably an English blend at that...........- beefeater33

Salt or Sugar?
I'm guessing against mold. That stuff looks more crystalline, and looks like its coming from the actual tin itself. I'm no expert though, and agree with mortonbriar- it sure is odd that the tobacco looks fine........... I'd look at it under a loupe, or try to dissolve some in some water, or...- beefeater33

Fake Dunhill Pipes on Etsy?
I believe the stars were made of brass........... I've had about a dozen Lee pipes pass through my hands. The stars are usually green when I get them, but they buff out to that "Gold" color........... But Gold doesn't tarnish to green...........
