greg1980, I urge you to get connected with the pipe club of London. They have monthly meetings at a smoke friendly pub and they have special events from time to time. Incredibly interesting and nice group of gents (and a few ladies) and very welcoming.- rodo

Wow, PipeLT, glad to know that I'm not the only one with this issue. Thanks for posting. I am happy to report that after a night of salt/rum it softened the goo and I was able to hit it with a paper towel and it cleaned up. Ready to try another smoke after it dries. I guess we should think...- rodo

That's the thing: the coating is, in this case, thicker. Don't believe it would just wipe off. Going to try a bit of salt/booze to see if that breaks it down.- rodo

Anyone else have any issues with the coatings inside of a new Peterson? Got a lovely silver spigot, sweet pipe, and noticed the inside was black, like...black. Not that kind of charred look of many pipes, the kind the are the prep so one doesn't need to break in the pipe so much. I've smoked...- rodo

Interesting development: the PA box has tabs so I could open it without disturbing glue. Found a website that has the changes in PA tins and this box is from 1961-62: pre-zip code but post some small text changes on the tin. So now the tobacco must be good, right? (I'm kidding.) No way to...- rodo
