    Famous Smoker

This has been popping up on fb, but not for pipe reasons. Thought it might be of interest here. "148th birthday to Charles Stewart Mott, brilliant industrialist and generous philanthropist."

Not to be Captain Obvious but: a filter, perhaps?

    Pipe Tobacco Consolidation and Conseqences

I'm wondering about tiny "artisan" tobacco growing. Bit like those crazy hippies down the road that started making and bottling their own wine but it isn't quite legal but no one cares b/c they are not trying to sell it anywhere but their farm. So, groups of meandering pipe smokers hear about...

    Chicago Pipe Show Update

I'm curious about one aspect of the show. What is the Swap and Smoke and how is that different than the Exhibition Halls? What happens at the Swap and Smoke?

    IPSD PTSD?

Did anyone else miss out on IPSD? Do you now get PTSD or, like me, did you overindulge during IPSD and IMO get PTSD PDQ?

    Little Rock for IPSD?

Anyone else out there thinking about going to The Pipe and Tobacco Shop for IPSD Monday?

    Proper Pipe Club etiquette.

I do think there is something to be said for awareness of the B&M in which the club may be meeting. The local here is small and it is a sort of politeness to make a small purchase, maybe a tin. As one member said, "I figure the price of a tin pays for my seat in the room and the a/c and heat"...

    C.S. Lewis & His Pipes.

Yep, you get to go everywhere. I actually slept, on one of the program trips, in Lewis' room. Sadly, the Foundation changed up the programs (they are like a week seminar about Lewis) and the guests no longer reside at the Kilns but go there after overnighting in a nearby dormitory (!)...

    C.S. Lewis & His Pipes.

How did I miss this thread??? My member photo features me sitting in...anyone recognize it? That is the parlor in Lewis' house outside of Oxford, The Kilns! Tried to mimic one of the snaps of Lewis. Here is another: Sadly, none of the stuff in that room, which includes a desk and some pipes...

Peterson St Patrick's Day 2023 Pipes at SP?

Uhhhhhhmmmmmm. Got mine yesterday. So, first, small print matters: one does NOT get the very cool tweed sock with the rusticated, only the numbered editions. Meh. And it wasn't even one of the nice leather Peterson socks but the thin and cheap ones. Okay, whatever. I like the pipe. It's...

The (Un)Official PipesMagazine Secret Santa Thread 2022!

And...Christmas arrived today, pour moi! Unexpected shipment from P&C and contained Kringle Flake, HH Pure Virginian, a bonus oz of a G&H Dark Birds Eye, and a Missouri Meerschaum. Wow, amazing. Feeling that Christmas spirit. Well, I am in gifts but not in photography. Anyway, thanks Chad...

Fantastic watching that. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanksgiving Wishes

Happy Thanksgiving! About to sit down for the big fat city meal and anticipating a long and slow smoke after becoming gastronomically satiated. Hope the same for all here, too.

    Hello from Murtaza Hashwani, London

Hi Murtaza, and welcome. Besides the friendliness of this group, I would also recommend the Pipe Club of London, an equally generous and kindly group of enthusiasts.

    Chicago 2023?

Nice, thanks. Hope to be there, finally, in April. I'll bring my parka.

    Chicago 2023?

Are there yet dates for the show? I recall seeing them, late April, somewhere, but now cannot confirm that.

    Rattray 3 Noggins

Haven't smoked it for a while but all my experiences, so far, were positive. Easy smoke, good flavor. I always wonder about when tobacco companies change their blends and, you know, not tell anyone.

Question about Shipping Pipes from UK to US

I get a pipe a year from the PCOL, UK to US. During covid it was worse, maybe 4-6 weeks, but they always showed up. Sent from there Royal Mail. Best story: after one pipe didn't show up for four weeks but, according to USPS website was stuck in Chicago, I alerted them that it was lost. Pipe...

    In-house Pipes from Iconic Shops

I was quite taken with a shop pipe from Paris, Pipe du Nord. If I understand it correctly, they were made by someone else (Savinelli?) but with Marie, the proprietress', design. I really like this: shops designing their own, even if someone else makes them.

    UK Pipe Smokers....or Lack Thereof

I'm going to wade in here because I have an experience that is surprisingly convivial. There is a pipe and tobacco shop in Little Rock (conveniently named, The Pipe and Tobacco Shop) and while I've known about it for years, it is just far enough away from where I live to make it tough to head...
