    Sakura's In Stock At KBV?

I wouldn't be surprised if it re-appears on Saturday, which seems to be the day that Ken has been releasing blends lately. There's been enough stock the past two Saturdays to last a couple of days.

    Hello from Minnesota

Welcome from sunny Tucson, AZ. I spent 15 years living in your fair state, 10 in Northfield and 5 in St Paul. I have a great affinity for the culture and the people. In fact, as long as it isn’t November-May, I miss it heartily.

    Sakura's In Stock At KBV?

Well, I don't have the most sophisticated palate, but I've smoked both in the past week so I'll give it a try. CCF is VA forward, with more of a sour cherry flavor and a definite Lakeland/soapy presence. It reminded me of Gawith Brown Flake, only with cherry flavor. With Sakura, you can...

    Strong Bulk VaPer

Missed the "bulk" word in the thread title. Chalk it up to poor reading comprehension!

Public Service It Is Best To Remember...

Well put. This is excellent advice for life as well as pipe smoking.

    Samuel Gawith Mold Issue??

I got my Sam Gawith order today. Just a 250 gr box of SJF, and......NO MOLD! It's all in jars now and I'll be keeping an eye on it. It's very fresh (date code from June of this year).

Fire Up Your Pipes With Some Black Frigate ya Scurvy Dogs!

Arrrr! Shiver me timbers! Looks like I picked a good day to get some pouches of Salty Dogs.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Watch City is working on a Va/Or? Count me in! If it's anywhere near the quality of their Va/VaPer blends then it'll be fantastic. Currently enjoying a bowl of Balkan Sasieni in a Mastro de Paja Classica bent billiard. I don't often reach for Balkan blends, but this one is very satisfying...

    Whats Your Pipe Style?

I don't discriminate. I have a few billiards, but other than that my collection is all over the map. As I've become a more experienced smoker over the past year I think I've grown to prefer 1/4 and 1/8th bent pipes, but I'm still attracted to all sorts of shapes and sizes.

What Are You Listening To? (September 2020)

Pärt is, in my opinion (and that of many experts), the greatest composer currently living. I've had occasion to play "Speigel im Speigel" (well, the piano part) a few times, and it's just as meditative to play as it is to listen to. My all time favorite piece by Pärt is his setting of the "Te...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Having some Rattray's Old Gowrie in a Tsuge Tokyo Bamboo sitter. After spending a few months with the three great VA/VaPer blends from Rattray's, I'd rank them thusly: 1. Marlin Flake 2. Old Gowrie 3. Hal

The Benefit Of Depriving Yourself Of Blends

I'm not sure what your experiences have been with the Catholic university system in Canada, but in the US, this is completely false. Catholic educational institutions in the U.S. are numerous and diverse, but in general they are very much in the mainstream of higher education, and many U. S...

    Your Favorite Navy Flake

MacBaren NF is some good stuff. It was the first flake tobacco I ever tried, in fact, and it really turned me on to the cut. I also think the MacBaren flakes are some of the nicest packaged tobaccos out there, with the cleanly stacked flakes and gold paper in the 3.5 oz tins, and it smells...

    Pipe Smoking and Eye Irritation

I'm more than a little disturbed by the placement of the Skull Meerschaum in this selfie. (It is a selfie, right?) As for the topic at hand, I occasionally experience this, but only when I've been smoking one of my two shorter pipes while driving. I think for me, being in a confined space with...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Enjoying some C and D XX Flake Dark in a Sasieni two dot 1/4 bent billiard. 6 months after release, this blend is smoking beautifully.

Hunting Red VAs and McClelland Wannabes

I've tried most of the blends mentioned here, and my "go-to" red Va blend has become Watch City's Simply Red (Have yet to try Rougaroux). It's simply delicious, and is ready to go right out of the gate (no aging needed). Old Gowrie and C and D Carolina Red are excellent as well. I thought...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Having some Cornell and Diehl SP 20th anniversary XX Flake in a James Upshall Tilshead billiard. The heat has finally broken a bit in Arizona and this is the most comfortable bowl I've smoked in over a month!
