    Cartels Are Apologizing!!!

I go to political protests, I engage with my elected representatives, I donate money to politicians I believe in, I sign initiatives I support, I debate politics with those interested in actual discussions, and I vote. Also, I bitch on forums just in case that helps. What I don't do is...

    Cartels Are Apologizing!!!

I agree with you, generally. My problem is that perpetuating this myth of widespread, organized voter fraud (especially from an extra-national source) distracts us from the actual problems within our government. If we're too busy chasing these phantoms we can't possibly address the actual rot of...

    Cartels Are Apologizing!!!

First off, even this addendum to your original quote calls only for people to not vote Republican. Can you think of a single incident of voter fraud ever, in any country, which was somehow perpetrated by someone not voting? Rather than the Mexican president admitting to an organized campaign of...

    Cartels Are Apologizing!!!

I don't see how that supports your claim that the Mexican president was encouraging illegal voting. Is that the part you intended to quote? There's no reference to voting at all, either direct or indirect. Would you say that this "threat" of an information campaign is more egregious than the...

What They DON'T Teach Kids is Amazing

Well, damn. Why didn't my ipad warn me about this? Frankly, I'm all for it. Have you ever read Vonnegut's Galapagos? He makes a heck of a case for our big fat brains being more trouble than they're worth.

What They DON'T Teach Kids is Amazing

Isn't it amazing how generations after our own have been supposedly getting dumber for damn near all of human history? Why, I bet by the time these kids today grow up they won't even know how to process whale fat into lamp oil or shape slate into writing tablets.

Non-Floral Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Bulk Recommendations?

Of the blends they have in stock as of a moment ago, Kendal #7 (not #7 Broken Flake), Dark Bird's Eye, and Dark Flake Unscented are all winners with no Lakeland essence that I can detect. That Dark Flake nicotine packs a real punch, though. Aside from those, Brown Flake Unscented is fantastic.

    Rich Tobaccos

Ennerdale is an especially fruity/sweet Lakeland, pretty far removed from how I'd describe Coniston. I like it as well, but don't base your opinion of all Lakelands on it. Enjoy!

    Rich Tobaccos

I know you said you're not looking for aromatics but Coniston Cut Plug is one of my favorite blends and it's pretty dang rich in flavor. Lots of dark fired, burley, some Virginia, and the Lakeland topping perfectly compliments the natural tobacco flavors. It's sweet and savory, with that thick...

    Ohio Derailment

Yes, I agree that people are generally not great. I'm not really a big fan of us, on the whole. I still don't really understand why you're making that point, though. You seem to be refuting an argument that no one is making. Again, Jay is not just suggesting we all feel harder until human...

    Ohio Derailment

I'm sorry to admit that I'm completely missing the point you've been trying to make in this thread, George. From what I've read, @Jaylotw is not asking us all to believe more strongly in the hopes that will change reality. He seems to be calling for awareness of and outcry over the historic...

Meer plastic tenon keeps coming loose

Is it loosening after you remove the stem and if so, are you making sure to only turn the stem clockwise when you remove it? Those screw in mortises will untwist if you pull the stem out with much counterclockwise rotation. If you try the super glue route, I'd just do a dab on the threads to...

Kiribi Kabuto - How is Yours Holding Up?

Same here. The gas comes out, the flint sparks, it just won't actually catch a flame consistently. I might have to give it 10-15 strikes of the flint wheel for every 1 time I get a flame going. It worked fine for a good year before that, but now I haven't used it reliably in at least a year.

What Would the Forum Chief Pirate Make of this Move I Wonder.

I've assumed his age and you've assumed my gender, but isn't that fair game in a thread where OP rails against the supposed scourge of political correctness?

RIP Jason David Frank (the Green Power Ranger)

I've lost a couple friends to suicide, and my girlfriend just lost a former coworker with whom everything seemed fine. As much as it hurts to lose anyone you care about, all the "what if"s after suicide sure take an extra toll. I'm at the older end of the millennials and I didn't watch Power...

    Show Off Your Barlings Here

Here's my only pipe I can contribute to the thread and I'll clarify that I'm not a Barling collector, more of an African meerschaum enthusiast. I know this isn't from the Barling golden era and isn't actually even made by them, but all the Laxey pipes I've had have been great smokers and I...

Really Like This Style of Sandblast!

My only pipe with this style of blast isn't very craggy, but I actually love the effect of the subtle blast over birdseye. It's a Briar Bird by Jason Cochey, who I believe is unfortunately not making pipes anymore.
